Chapter 8
Introducing Jiang Yu to Lu Tong.
It was one of the proudest moments I’ve had in front of my friends.
Lu Tong appeared at the bar.
Jiang Yu was sitting on my lap, her hair playfully tangled in my fingers.
I didn’t know who had called Lu Tong over, but instinctively, I wanted to push Jiang Yu away.
Jiang Yu’s leg bumped against the table corner, and she let out a soft cry.
My friends laughed at me.
“Why is it that when Lu Tong arrives, Zhou-Ge starts to get scared?”
I scoffed lightly, suppressing the guilt and unease that shouldn’t have surfaced in the first place.
Lu Tong walked over just then.
She wore a black, form-fitting dress, a stark contrast to her usual style.
I was mesmerized.
So much so that Jiang Yu tugged at my sleeve and called out several times, but I didn’t hear her.
“Lu Tong, come sit.”
My friend shifted over.
Just enough to make room next to Jiang Yu and me.
It wasn’t until Lu Tong sat beside me, the unfamiliar scent of her perfume reaching my nose, that I snapped back to reality.
“What brings you here?”
I frowned, asking Lu Tong while signaling the waiter to bring over a glass of orange juice.
Lu Tong never liked places like bars.
Yet she turned and picked up the drink my friend had poured for her.
“Just happened to have a meeting.”
“Saw you all and thought I’d say hi.”
“New girlfriend? Good taste, she’s quite pretty.”
Lu Tong finished her drink and got up to leave.
What meeting? Who did she meet?
I didn’t even get the chance to ask her before she left.
Until my friend suddenly reminded me.
“Zhou-Ge, what if Lu Tong finds another man? Wouldn’t you mind?”
