Chapter 6
Zhao Cai was hospitalized.
Heart disease.
Lu Tong always says I spoil Zhao Cai too much, making her lazy and gluttonous.
Every time she says that, I feel like she’s talking about me.
Liang Wan accompanied me to the hospital.
The doctor was surprised.
He said Lu Tong had just taken Zhao Cai away.
Liang Wan muttered, “Didn’t they say it was serious? How did she get discharged so quickly?”
I scrolled through my chat history with Lu Tong.
The money I transferred her was already a month ago.
The doctor explained on his own, “That night when Zhao Cai was brought in, it really was dangerous.”
Liang Wan wanted to say something else, but I interrupted her.
“As long as she’s discharged, that’s good.”
I spoke as I walked out.
Liang Wan snorted coldly before reluctantly following me out.
Before we came to the hospital, Liang Wan told me she wanted to adopt Zhao Cai.
She said it was definitely because Lu Tong hadn’t taken good enough care of Zhao Cai that she got sick and was hospitalized.
I took Liang Wan to the pet shop, let her pick out a Ragdoll cat, and choose the name herself.
Then I took her to the mall, let her swipe my card as she pleased, buying clothes, jewelry, and bags.
All the way until evening.
I drove Liang Wan back to where she lived.
Maybe it was because Liang Wan’s voice was too sharp when she mentioned Zhao Cai at the pet hospital during the day.
Or maybe because I’d been with Liang Wan for two months already, and the novelty had worn off.
I took the initiative to break up.
Liang Wan cried and made a scene for a while.
In the end, it was her roommate from the shared apartment who rushed downstairs and managed to comfort her.
“When his wife sues you, you won’t get a single benefit out of it.”
