Chapter 4
From initial sadness to later indifference, I opened Ava’s chat window:
“I want to divorce Jackson. He hasn’t replied to my messages. Do what you need to.”
Things that are tainted should be discarded, no matter how much you once liked them.
Ava sent me a location: “Come here.”
I quickly arrived at the location, which was a Bridal Shop.
Ava was sitting in the dressing room wearing a beautiful wedding dress, and when she saw me enter, she couldn’t hide the contempt in her eyes.
“You’ve never worn a wedding dress, have you? I heard from Jackson that you two got the marriage certificate but didn’t even have a wedding.”
“I just acted a little spoiled yesterday, and he brought me here to try on wedding dresses. He even said he wanted to give me the grandest wedding. I told you, a woman shouldn’t be too cheap.”
She looked me up and down, clicking her tongue:
“By the way, you’ve been married for five years and haven’t had a child. I was puzzled because Jackson is so vigorous; it shouldn’t be like this.”
“Until I saw your face, if I were a man, I’d feel nauseated seeing you. How could anyone feel desire?”
“Jackson is just soft-hearted, keeping you around. If I were you, I’d pack up and leave as soon as possible.”
I never thought Jackson had told Ava so much about us.
To me, a wedding is just a formality; love is what’s real.
So when I married Jackson, I felt sorry for him not having money and didn’t demand anything, just got the certificate with him.
I never expected that now love was fake, and I got nothing out of it.
My chest ached sharply, but my pride wouldn’t allow me to show weakness in front of Ava, so I retorted:
“If you want something tainted, take it. If you’re so capable, why hasn’t he agreed to divorce me?”
“You better hurry, or the child will be born without a registered household.”
Ava’s face turned pale with anger, having hit a sore spot.
She raised her hand to hit me, but before I could dodge, she turned and slapped herself instead.
“Isabella, I know you can’t stand me, but what did my child do wrong?”
“I just love Jackson too much and want to give him a child before leaving.”
Ava fell to the ground, tears in her eyes, looking pitiful.
I didn’t realize who she was putting on this act for until a force pushed me away.
My stomach hit the table, and the sharp pain made me gasp.
“Ava, are you okay?”
“Jackson, my stomach hurts. Is our child going to be lost?”
Jackson frantically picked up Ava, and when he looked at me, his eyes were full of anger, accusing:
“Isabella, I misjudged you. How could you be so cruel?”
I had no energy to refute, as my stomach twisted in pain, feeling like something was being torn from my body.
“Jackson, my stomach hurts.”
Jackson hesitated for a moment, but the next second, Ava’s cries of pain brought him back to his senses.
He didn’t look back, leaving decisively.
I held no expectations for him, but at this moment, it still felt like a knife was twisting in my heart.
A wet, sticky sensation came from below-blood.
