Chapter 3
I only remember that day, Jackson cried in my arms like a child:
“I’m sorry, Isabella, I don’t mind. No matter what you become, I will always love you.”
I believed him.
Later, as his career flourished, Jackson mentioned treatment, but it had been too long, and it was no longer effective.
Compared to Ava’s lovely face, wasn’t I just a hideous monster?
Jackson said he didn’t mind, but he lied to me again.
The phone rang, and Ava’s delicate voice came from the other side:
“Jackson, it was too intense just now, I think I’m bleeding down there, it hurts so much, can you take me to the hospital?”
Jackson’s gaze lingered on me for a moment before shifting away:
“Don’t be afraid, I’m coming right over.”
I watched his silhouette grow distant, my heart sinking completely. Perhaps his heart no longer belonged to me.
Since that’s the case, there’s no point in continuing this entanglement.
I sent Jackson a message about the divorce and began packing my things.
By the time dawn broke, Jackson hadn’t replied.
Instead, Ava updated her social media with a new post:
“The feeling of having a little life inside is so magical.”
In the picture, Jackson held her hand, resting it on her belly-a cozy family of three.
I thought my heart was already dead, but at that moment, it still stirred with a ripple.
I had once thought about having a child with Jackson, a family of three would surely be happy.
For this, I drank a lot of herbal medicine and tried many remedies, but none worked.
Later, Jackson didn’t even bother to touch me, and the matter fell through.
Regarding my proposal for divorce, Jackson adopted a cold treatment approach.
He came home once to retrieve clothes, and when I handed him the divorce agreement, he merely glanced at it.
“Don’t make a fuss, I’m not going to divorce you. I’ll fulfill all the promises I made to you.”
“Isabella, you are in my heart, I just need someone to fulfill my physical needs, be more magnanimous.”
I didn’t know how he could shamelessly say such irresponsible words, so I asked him:
“What about the child in Ava’s belly?”
Jackson realized something and chuckled lightly:
“What you mind is her child, isn’t it? Well, isn’t that perfect? You’ve always wanted a child. When she gives birth, you can raise it.”
“I’ve seen it, pregnancy is really tough for women, and you’re weak, don’t suffer like that.”
His words seemed considerate, but I couldn’t help feeling nauseated.
I threw the divorce agreement at his face, the sharp edge of the paper leaving a blood mark on his cheek.
“I don’t have the habit of being someone else’s stepmother.”
Seeing my resolute attitude, Jackson’s usually gentle face turned dark, and he stopped pretending.
“Isabella, don’t push your luck. In your current state, who else would want you if you left me?”
“I provide you with good food and drink, many people want this kind of life, and now you’re quibbling with me over such a trivial matter.”
Trivial matter?
In his eyes, infidelity was a trivial matter.
The boy who once loved only me was now unrecognizable, and as I watched him leave, I couldn’t hold onto anything.
Jackson didn’t return home, and he ignored my calls and messages.
He tried to use this method to make me relent, but he didn’t know I was determined this time.
I saw Jackson’s recent activities from Ava’s social media.
“The baby’s daddy is starting to learn parenting skills, I believe he’ll be a qualified father.”
“Pregnant women are just more sensitive, a little thing can cause emotional fluctuations, but fortunately, he loves me and is always by my side.”
“A woman who is loved is the most beautiful.”
…-
With updates every three hours, it was clear Ava was deliberately flaunting to me.
