Chapter 2
The moment I got in the car, my new mother couldn’t wait to pull me into her arms and kiss me. “Haha! I have a daughter now!”
My new father chuckled as he drove. “Hehe, finally we don’t have to face that moody kid at home all day.”
My cheeks burned, and I was too shy to look at them.
Mom… smelled so nice.
Mom and Dad’s house was very big and beautiful.
A housekeeper had a huge meal waiting for us.
The timing was perfect; the food was still steaming when we arrived.
Sitting at the table was a boy in a white shirt, his features as delicate as a painting.
Mom and Dad happily tried to lead me over for an introduction.
The boy’s indifferent gaze swept over me, and he silently got up and went upstairs.
The bullet comments immediately buzzed with activity.
[The male lead must be so disappointed. The supporting character isn’t the sister he wanted at all.]
[The male lead was imagining a lively and cute girl, like a little cartoon character.]
[The supporting character is too gloomy. She looks like she’s always scheming.]
[Mom and Dad are busy with work and don’t have much time to spend with the male lead. The house is already quiet enough.]
[He finally gets a sister, but she’s mute. How could he not be disappointed?]
I stopped in my tracks.
My chest felt tight, and my eyes began to sting.
It’s… it’s okay…
I fought back the tears, afraid of making Mom and Dad unhappy.
It’s normal for my brother to want a better sister…
I can understand.
Mom stroked my head, her voice apologetic. “Your brother has always been a bit shy, Yan Yan. Don’t mind him. He’ll warm up once you get to know each other.”
Dad said angrily, “That was so rude. I’m going to have a talk with him later. Yan Yan must be hungry, right? Let’s eat first.”
Mom chimed in. “Exactly. See if there’s anything you like to eat.”
I looked up and forced a smile for them.
Mom and Dad… are so gentle…
Even if I get sent away later, I have to cherish every day I spend with them.
