The Little Spoiled Brat Divorces with a Child, Driving the Big Boss Crazy - Chapter 76
Chapter 76
The baby was due in September, so Lu Ying named her Lu Jiuyue.
Jin Qiuqiu, on the other hand, had been a name Lu Ying tossed out as a joke when she and Jin Beizhou were dating.
Back then, she was always wheedling him in hopes of escaping her impossibly difficult tutoring sessions. “I’m begging you” was practically her catchphrase, and she said it so often that Jin Beizhou would get too exasperated to answer her.
But no matter how shamelessly Lu Ying acted spoiled, Jin Beizhou could never hold out against her for long.
Jin Qiuqiu had come into their lives after all, but Lu Ying had already changed her mind. Her daughter would be called Lu Jiuyue.
September was her favorite month. The end of summer and beginning of autumn brought a harvest to all things, somehow echoing the origin of Lu Ying’s own name.
Jin Beizhou did not care. Jin Qiuqiu or Lu Jiuyue, all he knew was that he was going to have a daughter!
On the walk back to Caotang, Lu Ying’s thoughts were fixed on making him move out, while Jin Beizhou’s mind was filled with visions of his daughter.
There was a children’s park beside them, where young parents were playing with their children. One glance was all it took to stop Jin Beizhou in his tracks.
“We’ll be able to bring our daughter here next year.”
Without looking back, Lu Ying asked, “Have you found a moving company?”
“But I don’t think it’s very hygienic to wear a little dress on a slide. Our daughter should wear pants.”
“Move out immediately.”
“I’m going to build her an amusement park.”
“You have a moving company’s number, right? Call them now.”
“The books I read said that a daughter needs…”
Lu Ying whipped around.
The rest of Jin Beizhou’s sentence died on his lips.
She stared at his blatantly uncooperative face for several seconds, a clear warning in her icy gaze.
Jin Beizhou pursed his lips and rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m not even allowed to discuss how we’re going to raise our daughter?”
“You’d better not play shameless games with me,” Lu Ying enunciated. “I was willing to give you Feibao for the sake of the divorce. I can just as easily…”
Before she could finish, the man clamped her moving lips between his fingers.
“You’re saying things like that again!” he complained with childish indignation. “What if our daughter hears you?”
Lu Ying dug her nails hard into his wrist, leaving several deep crescents in his skin. The instant she was free, she scrubbed vigorously at her mouth. “Did you even sanitize your hands?”
“It’s your mouth that needs sanitizing.”
“…” Lu Ying reined herself in. “Are you moving or not?”
She stood facing the hospital, as if she would act at once if he dared utter the word no.
Jin Beizhou’s eyes reddened despite himself. “I’ll move.”
How could he dare refuse?
His daughter’s life was in her hands.
This girl had known how to control him since childhood. When she loved him, she had used herself to threaten him. Now, she was using their daughter.
“When?” Lu Ying asked.
“Next year.”
Without another word, Lu Ying started toward the hospital.
Jin Beizhou grabbed her hand. “Next month.”
“…” Lu Ying refused to budge. “This afternoon.”
His chest rose and fell faintly. “Don’t I need time to pack?”
“You didn’t need any time when you moved in.”
“Just because you didn’t see it,” Jin Beizhou said, “doesn’t mean I didn’t spend time on it.”
“…”
She was about to start swearing.
Jin Beizhou looked aggrieved. “I’ll leave as soon as I finish packing. I promise I won’t stall.”
“Give me a deadline.”
“…” His temples throbbed. “Fine. I’ll take down the surveillance cameras. Happy?”
“You obviously never planned to move!”
“Of course I didn’t plan to move. You’re the one throwing me out.”
Lu Ying was speechless with fury.
She finally understood just how annoying she must have been in the past.
When they were both still young, Lu Ying loved following her mother to the Jin Family’s home. Perhaps she had matured early in that particular respect, because she was utterly enamored with the older boy from the Jin Family who was even better-looking than a child star.
At first, Jin Beizhou had been impatient with her constant pestering. Whenever Lu Ying came over, he would often hide in his room or have the driver take him out to practice golf, horseback riding, or archery.
In short, he refused to play with her.
Boys of a certain age seemed to consider spending time with girls a source of shame.
But Lu Ying kept such a diligent watch for him that she inevitably managed to corner him now and then.
One day, Jin Beizhou finally had enough. “Don’t you have anything else to do?”
Lu Ying shook her head, her small face utterly serious. “You’re the most important thing I have to do.”
Jin Beizhou immediately turned his head away and refused to look at her. “Have you no shame?”
“No,” Lu Ying replied in her clear childish voice. “Second Brother, will you play with me?”
“I’m busy.”
“Doing what?”
“I’m going to shooting practice.”
“I’ll come with you.”
“…Don’t you have anything else…” to do?
Lu Ying beat him to it. “I told you. You’re the most important thing I have to do.”
As though he had no defense against her persistence, Jin Beizhou had no choice but to take her with him.
At the shooting range, Lu Ying clutched the instant camera her mother had given her and photographed Jin Beizhou from every possible angle.
Lu Ying had never suffered a day in her life. She did not understand why Jin Beizhou had to learn this and practice that. He always seemed so incredibly busy.
After she tagged along several times, Jin Beizhou gradually grew accustomed to having her at his side, though he would still sigh helplessly on occasion. “I’m going rock climbing with a few friends. You can’t come.”
“Second Brother, I promise I won’t get in your way.”
“…” Jin Beizhou seemed to sigh. “Bring your little water bottle and backpack. I’ll pack you some snacks.”
By comparison, the grown-up Lu Ying’s manners when dealing with Jin Beizhou’s pestering were clearly inferior to the patience he had shown her as a child.
She was terribly impatient.
She did not possess even a tenth of the patience he once had.
He had been right about one thing. If Lu Ying had not clung to him so persistently, she and Jin Meimei would not have been the only girls left in Jin Beizhou’s life.
At that thought, Lu Ying felt both obnoxious and terribly ill-mannered.
“Second Brother.” Lu Ying looked at him. “Why don’t I introduce you to a girlfriend?”
Jin Beizhou’s expression changed instantly. “You don’t want the man yourself, so you’re going to foist him on one of your friends? Do you have no conscience?”
“…”
Forget it.
That really was disgusting.
Not him. What Lu Ying had suggested was disgusting.
“I’m going home,” Lu Ying said politely. “Please move out as soon as possible within the next two days.”
Jin Beizhou said nothing and followed leisurely at her side.
They entered the residential complex together.
As they neared her door, the man briefly caught Lu Ying by the wrist.
She jerked free as if she had been shocked. “Keep your hands to yourself…”
“Wait.” Jin Beizhou spoke calmly. “I have something to give back to you.”
“…What?”
Jin Beizhou took something out of his pocket. Its cord looped around one of his knuckles, leaving a vivid green piece of jade dangling in midair.
“Your Peace Buckle.”
She had worn that Peace Buckle for seven years.
Lu Ying glanced at it, then looked away without a trace of emotion. “No need. Keep it.”
Jin Beizhou patiently said, “This thing knows its owner. Just because you don’t want the man, you don’t want your own protective charm either?”
“…”
“Besides,” Jin Beizhou lowered his voice, “don’t you want to know how I found it?”
Lu Ying asked casually, “How?”
“It smelled its owner’s scent and hopped all the way back.”
Lu Ying raised her head and stared at him. “Move out within two days, or else…”
As though he had guessed what she was about to say, Jin Beizhou clamped her mouth shut between his fingers again. He held it for a moment, then huffed, “…Hmph!”
