Summary
At six years old, I’m sent to the capital with a mission: save the father I’ve never met. Mother says he’s a wicked minister about to meet a violent end. When I finally find the Prince Regent, I discover I can see exactly how many days he has left. Medicine helps. Handsome bodyguards help. Taking the little emperor out to blow up horse dung helps too. But with old ministers plotting, assassins gathering, and Father’s countdown refusing to stay put, keeping him alive is becoming a full-time job. At the very least, he ought to sign over my inheritance first.
