The Eight-Year Lie: Shattered Vows and a Vengeful Heart - Chapter 6
In the afternoon, I took time off and met with Mrs. Liang, the wife of Xu Ge’s superior. We went shopping and got beauty treatments. I chose a mall near People’s Park.
Around five o’clock, Xu Ge called, asked for our location, and said he was coming to pick me up. I smiled shyly at Mrs. Liang, who complimented my good fortune.
“Xu Ge’s devotion to you truly makes people envious!”
My heart was bitter, but I kept a smile on my face. “It’s alright, it’s alright. Let’s go see the fountain! I heard it’s newly built.”
I pulled Mrs. Liang towards the entrance. As the appointed time drew near, I sent a message to Xu Ge: “Mrs. Liang is still enjoying herself. Wait for me a bit when you arrive.”
Xu Ge sent a kissing emoji.
The parking lot at the park entrance was full; the only place to wait was that coffee shop.
I told Mrs. Liang I needed to use the restroom. Leaving her, I hurried towards the entrance.
In just five minutes, my palms were already sweating. Although I knew Xu Ge had betrayed me, I still held onto a sliver of hope. How I wished this was all a misunderstanding!
