The bullet comments started scrolling again.

[One wave has not subsided, another wave rises. Jiang Yi’s path to chasing his wife is long and arduous.]

Jiang Yi sent me a message. “Why aren’t you back yet?”

“Should I come find you?”

I held my phone, replying as I walked back. Just as I was about to reach the table, someone called out my name. “Shen Zhaoyue?”

The dizzy spell hadn’t quite passed, and I turned back somewhat blankly. A tall, slender man in a black hoodie stood at the end of the aisle. He wore metal-rimmed half-frame glasses and had a middle-parted, layered hairstyle. His phone was in his well-defined, bony hand. The next second, my phone rang.

“It really is you.”

“Why didn’t you reply to my texts?”

He walked towards me. As he got closer and closer, a tall figure blocked his path.

Jiang Yi walked step by step in front of me. He raised his hand and extended a finger, stopping the man. “She didn’t reply to me either.”

“Why should she reply to you?”

The man’s gaze flickered between Jiang Yi and me. He took two steps back. “Excuse me.”

“Let me introduce myself.”

“I’m Zhaoyue’s ex-boyfriend, Song Jinnian.”

Song Jinnian’s eyes fell on Jiang Yi. “May I ask what your relationship is with Zhaoyue?”
