Chapter 20: Come Over, All Three of Us
“Why didn’t you bring the Phantom?” Zhou Mingyuan’s face darkened at the sight of the Mercedes. He’d hoped he might sleep with Su Qing on the drive, and suspected Zhang Cheng had thwarted him deliberately.
“Madam warned me you weren’t to use the Phantom anymore. How could I disobey?” Zhang answered carefully, privately thinking that neither he, Lin Wanshu nor Su herself would let Zhou have his way.
That evening Zhang came home excited to find two dishes and soup on the table. Su wore a pink apron and smiled. “Wash your hands. Dinner’s ready.”
The tomato and eggs tasted far better than his noodles. “I didn’t know you could cook.”
“I’ve done it a few times at home.” She sat opposite him. “How’s your playboy training?”
“Much better! At the airport I wasn’t jealous or angry. I barely looked at you.”
“You did improve. Perhaps you have a gift for it.”
That night, after they washed, Su lay in bed and Zhang on the floor. Unable to resist, he rose and kissed her. She returned the kiss, then caught his hand and shook her head. “No.”
“Why? I’ve mastered it. Zhou won’t see through me.”
“I’m still worried. What if…” Her phone rang before she finished.
Yan Zhixia’s voice came through, provocative. “Your boyfriend isn’t much, Su Qing. I barely had to tempt him. He’s been staying with me the whole time these past few days, and I have to say, he’s incredible in bed.”
Su stared at Zhang. “You’re lying! He isn’t like that.”
“Look at the video, then.” Yan hung up and sent it. The clear footage showed Zhang and Yan kissing outside the office building, his hand around her waist.
“She was telling the truth?” Su looked at him in disbelief.
Zhang told her everything: Yan’s messages, her advances, the recording and the threat. “She kept asking me to stay, so I really did spend several days with her.”
Su listened, her shock giving way to a knowing smile. “You really have mastered it. You slept with Yan Zhixia, and she still thinks you’re a rich heir and wants you for herself. Now I can stop worrying.”
Before he could respond, she pushed him onto the bed. This time she set aside her doubts, and they spent the next two hours together. Later, as they washed, she leaned against him and sighed. “You lucky playboy. Huaqing University’s two former campus beauties, goddesses to so many men, have both been with you.”
“Maybe I saved the galaxy in a previous life,” Zhang said.
Back in the bedroom Su found another message from Yan: “Well, beauty? Are you angry? Going to break up with him?”
Su replied, “I already knew he was a playboy, so I’m not angry. Try seducing him again if you can. I’m not breaking up with him; we’re getting married soon.”
“Keep pretending.”
“Don’t believe me? Come over, and all three of us can be together!”
Yan called at once. Zhang answered to hear her furious voice. “You think Su really loves you? She wants your money! And I never loved you either. I only wanted to break you two up and make you miserable!” She hung up.
Zhang shook his head. “She’s awful. A few days ago she was affectionate, and now she wants to break us up.” He remembered her beauty, but knew there could be no more between them.
Su embraced him from behind. “You still have me. As long as you don’t give us away, we can keep being happy like this.”
He turned and held her tightly, though he wondered fearfully whether their happiness could last.
