Chapter 7
Yang Ke’er’s efficiency was incredible.
The same day we talked about it, she helped me post my profile on a dating website.
Perhaps Fu Tingshen had influenced my taste in men too deeply, because I went on dates for a month and didn’t like a single one.
Just as I was exhausted and ready to give up, Yang Ke’er assured me repeatedly that the next two men would not disappoint.
“Be honest, are you getting a commission from this?” I asked, looking at her fawning expression. Something felt off.
Her smile grew even more sycophantic. “How could that be? I’m doing all this for your happiness.”
After her half-hour-long persuasion, I decided to meet the final two the next day.
After work, I picked up Chu Weiyi and went to the designated coffee shop.
“I’m sorry, the last surgery had some complications. I’m late,” a man said, appearing before us shortly after we arrived.
His name was Lin Zizhou, a doctor.
He was handsome, with a gentle and polite demeanor.
He was a completely different type of person from Fu Tingshen.
As Lin Zizhou and I were getting to know each other, Chu Weiyi tugged on my sleeve. He asked in his soft voice, “Mom, can I go play for a while?”
I followed his finger to the toy store across the way.
“Okay.” I patted his head and glanced at Yang Ke’er, who was peeking from inside the toy store. “If you want anything, wait for Mommy to buy it. Don’t let Auntie pay, okay?”
“Weiyi is very sensible,” Lin Zizhou said with a smile, watching Chu Weiyi’s retreating back.
I turned back to him. “You like Weiyi?”
He smiled and nodded, lowering his head slightly so that only the tips of his slightly red ears were visible.
“This may be a bit forward, but I like both Miss Chu and Weiyi.”
It was indeed a bit forward.
It left me at a loss for words.
But I knew he wasn’t lying.
“Miss Chu,” he said suddenly as our conversation was nearing its end, “let it end with me.”
“Hmm?”
“The meetings with other men.”
His eyes were sincere and genuine, reminding me of a little puppy I had secretly kept at the orphanage long ago.
I held my coffee cup with both hands, not answering.
Just then, the wind chime on the door jingled.
“The suggestion this gentleman made seems a bit unfair to me.”
The voice was light and flat, making it impossible to read the speaker’s emotions.
But it made my entire body freeze.
