Chapter 3
Time flew by.
Half a year later, the money in my account was nearing thirty million.
With this money, as long as I wasn’t too extravagant after leaving Fu Tingshen and found a decent job, I could live comfortably for the rest of my life.
I thought about my future as I applied my makeup in front of the mirror.
The face in the mirror was stunning and delicate.
I had originally thought I could rely on this face to stay by Fu Tingshen’s side for a lifetime.
I heard that Fu Tingshen’s female lead was Gu Qingye, the eldest daughter of the Gu Corporation, who was about to return from her studies abroad.
I had heard the maids mention Gu Qingye before.
She was the daughter of Mr. Gu’s first wife. After her father remarried, she was mistreated at home, pushed aside at every turn.
But she was exceptionally talented in all aspects and was admitted to a top university in M Country while still in high school.
A quintessential female lead from a strong-woman novel.
A life completely different from mine.
“Miss, the Master is back,” a maid said, knocking on my door, signaling that it was time for me to go down and greet him.
“I know.”
I applied a touch of pitifully charming blush, put on a smile, and stood up from my chair.
I couldn’t be a strong female lead.
I’d better stick to being a good little golden canary.
Fu Tingshen was in a bad mood today, and he took it all out on me.
When he was done, my whole body felt like it was about to fall apart.
This golden canary job wasn’t something just anyone could do.
Ignoring the red marks on my body, I looked at Fu Tingshen with teary eyes. “Is something bothering you?”
This was just a formality.
Fu Tingshen never told me about his work.
My concern seemed to please him, and the harshness in his expression softened a bit.
“Does it hurt?” His fingertip gently touched a red mark on my collarbone.
I bit my lip, my eyes misty. “It doesn’t hurt.”
His fingers traveled upward, finally resting on my eyelid. His Adam’s apple bobbed.
“Such a little enchantress.”
He ended with a smile, covering my eyes with his hand. “Those eyes of yours could take a man’s life.”
His voice was already slightly hoarse, and his laughter was even more captivating.
My heart pounded, and I couldn’t resist leaning up to give him a quick kiss on the lips.
“I don’t want your life, I want you to be happy.”
Consider it my way of repaying him for choosing me out of so many, for sponsoring my education, for giving me everything.
