Chapter 13
The day before I was set to leave, Yang Ke’er took me out for one last meal.
It was late by the time we finished dinner.
I was walking home holding Chu Weiyi’s hand when we turned into a small alley and were blocked by two men.
“Don’t move,” one of the men said, holding a small knife to my neck.
The other man grabbed Chu Weiyi and covered his mouth.
Fearing they would hurt Chu Weiyi, I quickly said, “How much money do you want? I’ll give it to you. Just don’t hurt him.”
The two men exchanged a look and laughed.
“We heard you were rich, but we didn’t expect you to be so straightforward.”
I nodded. “Don’t touch my son. The money is negotiable.”
“Five million,” one of the men said.
“Okay, okay, I’ll transfer it.”
I obediently took out my phone and stopped at the transfer screen. “I only have a one-million transfer limit.”
The two men looked at each other again. “Then transfer one million first.”
After completing the transaction, I showed them my phone screen.
“It’s done. Let my son go, and I promise I won’t call the police.”
But the two men didn’t move.
They looked me up and down. “Play with us for a bit, and we’ll let your son go.”
“You!”
“What’s with the act? A single mother with so much money, everyone knows how you got it.” The man holding Chu Weiyi tightened his grip. “What’s the difference who you play with?”
Seeing Chu Weiyi’s face turn red, my heart ached terribly.
“If you don’t agree, your son won’t make it,” the man beside me said, caressing my cheek.
I was trembling all over.
Finally, I closed my eyes. “Alright…”
The word had barely left my lips when Fu Tingshen’s voice came from behind me.
“Chu Ning.” He must have been furious; he practically spat out my name. “You’re quite casual, aren’t you.”
I opened my eyes and turned to look at him.
He was alone.
He walked toward us, step by step. “If you don’t want to die, let them go.”
Like a god descending with thunderous wrath.
