Chapter 12
Fu Tingshen was not like me.
He never lied.
At least, he had never lied to me.
When he said he would let me go, he would keep his promise and not come looking for me again.
For Chu Weiyi’s sake, I bought a plane ticket to leave C-City a week later.
During this week, I wanted to say a proper goodbye to everyone in the town who had helped me.
Yang Ke’er was the one who would miss me the most. After a night of heavy drinking, she hugged me and cried for a long time.
“When you first came, you were like a little white rabbit that anyone could bully,” she said, pulling at my cheek, her voice choked with tears. “Back then, I thought, this little rabbit will not be bullied on my watch.”
I cried too. “You were the one who bullied me the most.”
She laughed again.
“Dr. Lin has liked you for a long time,” she said, her head drooping. “The blind date was his idea. He waited a whole month before he dared to meet you.”
I hadn’t known that.
Seeing her like this, I naturally understood everything.
“Dr. Lin isn’t my type,” I said, smiling as I hugged her. “Ke’er, if you like someone, you have to say it out loud.”
She clearly missed the point of my last sentence.
Her eyes widened as she looked at me. “So you do like Fu Tingshen.”
I…
I don’t know if it was the alcohol, but the first time I saw Fu Tingshen flashed in my mind.
I was only eighteen then.
He stood before me and asked, “Do you want to go to university?”
He was like a shining deity appearing in my bleak life.
“I don’t like him.” I shook my head and said loudly to Yang Ke’er, “I don’t like Fu Tingshen.”
Yang Ke’er quickly covered my mouth.
“Okay, okay, I get it.”
After a night of drinking, we both woke up the next day with splitting headaches.
But what gave me an even bigger headache was another piece of news.
Gu Qingye was here.
Yang Ke’er looked at her phone, then at me. “She’s not here to find you, is she?”
I could hear the tremor in her voice.
“I don’t think so,” I said, my own voice trembling.
Mainly because Fu Tingshen and I hadn’t done anything.
A clear conscience fears no accusation.
I stayed home for two days and discovered that Gu Qingye was indeed not here for me.
It turned out the Gu Corporation was also involved in this town’s development project.
Just as I was starting to relax, Fu Tingshen called me again.
“Let’s meet.”
I looked at Gu Qingye’s interview on the news. “Fu Tingshen, let’s just pretend we never met. Be good to Miss Gu.”
With that, I hung up.
At that moment, something felt off.
This CEO novel couldn’t be following a “win-her-back” plotline, could it?
And I was just a part of their game?
Because I left Fu Tingshen early, they spent six years looking for me to continue the plot here.
Otherwise, with Fu Tingshen’s personality, why would he search for me for six years?
The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
Fine, fine.
So a side character’s life isn’t a life, is that it?
Damn you, author.
