Chapter 10
“Do you think there’s nothing I can do to you?”
Fu Tingshen held the kicking Chu Weiyi with one hand and cupped my chin with the other.
“I looked for you for six years.” His voice was heavy, the tips of his pale ears turning red with anger. “And you tell me you’re not willing.”
I felt a surge of grievance as well. My eyes turned red, and I looked at him with watery eyes.
I hadn’t used this trick since I left him.
Perhaps it was because I understood it only worked on him.
Sure enough, after a short while, he let go.
“You never told me about his existence.” As he drove me home, Fu Tingshen looked at Chu Weiyi, who was asleep in my arms.
I instinctively hugged Chu Weiyi tighter. “He has nothing to do with you.”
That statement had zero credibility.
Chu Weiyi looked far too much like him.
He looked at me and said nothing more.
It wasn’t until the car stopped downstairs from my apartment and I opened the door that he finally asked, “What’s his name?”
“He doesn’t want to tell you.”
I carried Chu Weiyi upstairs without looking back.
Before I reached my door, I saw Lin Zizhou waiting there.
Lin Zizhou, who had been squatting by the door, heard my footsteps and turned his head.
“Miss Chu.”
He stood up awkwardly.
“I’m so sorry, a very urgent patient came into the emergency room… I tried calling you, but you didn’t answer.”
I didn’t need to think to know that Fu Tingshen must have turned off my phone.
“Have you been waiting here for a long time?” I asked, surprised.
Lin Zizhou smiled shyly.
“It got very late, and I couldn’t reach you, so I was a little worried. Now that you’re back, I can rest easy. You should get some rest.”
He left before I could even invite him in for a glass of water.
A true gentleman.
I peeked out.
Fu Tingshen’s car hadn’t left yet, and he and Lin Zizhou ran right into each other.
For a split second, I felt a pang of guilt.
I quickly shook off the absurd thought and carried Chu Weiyi inside.
Just as I laid Chu Weiyi down on the bed, Fu Tingshen’s call came through.
“What was he doing here?” His voice came through the phone before I could speak.
“None of your business.”
“Tell him not to come again.”
I suddenly found it hilarious.
“Mr. Fu,” I said, gently covering Chu Weiyi with a blanket, “he’s not married, and I’m not married. Why can’t he come? As for you…”
He cut me off before I could finish. “You want my son to call another man ‘Dad’?”
“You dare.” His voice was low.
That’s not what he said back then.
Absolutely absurd.
I was so angry I hung up on him.
