Chapter 9
Fu Tingshen didn’t come looking for me after that day.
Just when I thought he had given up on bringing me back after I yelled at him, something major happened in the small town.
“A tourism development zone?” I took the brochure Yang Ke’er handed me.
The name “Fu Corporation” was emblazoned on the cover page.
Yang Ke’er leaned in. “Yeah, I heard the Fu Corporation is taking over the development. They’ve suddenly invested a lot of money into our town, saying they want to build an eco-tourism town.”
After saying that, she looked at me again.
“Speaking of which, the man who came on a blind date with you along with Dr. Lin… that couldn’t have been Fu Tingshen, could it? The lighting was too dim that day, I didn’t get a clear look.”
I looked at her resentfully. “Weren’t you the one who introduced him?”
“He was recommended by the platform. They said he was even better than Dr. Lin, so I agreed…” At this point, Yang Ke’er’s eyes widened. “It couldn’t really have been Fu Tingshen, could it!”
I pursed my lips and said nothing.
Ever since she found out the man from that day was Fu Tingshen, Yang Ke’er had been terrified that I would give in to temptation and become his mistress.
The very next day, she accepted a date with Lin Zizhou on my behalf.
Lin Zizhou and I met at the only park in town. All I had to do was hold Chu Weiyi’s hand; he arranged everything else.
Yang Ke’er was right.
He was a truly good person.
But when we sat down in the playground area, he said he was going to buy water and never came back.
I don’t know how long I waited.
What I got was Fu Tingshen.
Holding a black umbrella, he stood beside me and asked, “This is the man you chose?”
I looked up at him.
The sunlight was glaring. Before I could see his face clearly, my head spun and I fainted.
In a daze, I heard Fu Tingshen ask Chu Weiyi, “What’s your name?”
Chu Weiyi’s voice was cold. “None of your business.”
That’s my boy!
My son, indeed!
And then I drifted into a deep sleep.
When I woke up, I was lying on a soft, large bed.
“Mom.” Chu Weiyi, who was lying beside me, saw me wake up, and his eyes instantly lit up.
Fu Tingshen, sitting next to him, also looked over at me. “Quite something, aren’t you? A grown woman suffering from malnutrition.”
I couldn’t be bothered with him.
I struggled to sit up in bed. I wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
Before I could sit up, he stood and pushed me back down onto the bed.
“Chu Ning, how long are you going to keep this up?”
Just then, Chu Weiyi bit down hard on his wrist.
He yelped in pain and let go of me.
Chu Weiyi quickly climbed onto the bed and stood in front of me with his arms outstretched. “Don’t touch my mom.”
Looking at Chu Weiyi’s small back, my eyes filled with tears.
Giving birth to him was the best decision I ever made in my life.
