- Chapter 142 - Considering Throwing You Downstairs 2
Gu Xiaoai stared at the group of people standing before her, confusion written all over her face as she glanced at Li Juefeng. What was this man up to now?
“You have one hour,” Li Juefeng commanded coldly, his gaze briefly sweeping over her before he walked to the side and sat down.
“Understood.”
Before Gu Xiaoai could process what was happening, the group of people rushed toward her with unrestrained enthusiasm.
Thirty minutes later…
She finally understood. Li Juefeng was preparing to take her to a charity auction gala-the same one hosted by Chen Guang and Su Xuanxuan last time. And these people? They were top stylists from the E.S Group, brought to the Li Family villa specifically to transform her appearance from head to toe for the event.
Her long, jet-black hair was washed, blow-dried, styled, and re-styled until they settled on an elegant look befitting a sophisticated companion.
Her hair was swept up, and dozens of evening gowns were paraded before her like a roller coaster of choices, each one scrutinized and dismissed until the perfect one was chosen.
When she finally stood before the full-length mirror, the reflection staring back at her was almost unrecognizable-a poised and glamorous woman in a floor-length white evening gown with a daring neckline, adorned with exquisite jewelry. She looked every bit the refined socialite.
Gu Xiaoai froze. This image… it reminded her of her mother.
Whenever her dad attended a gala, her mom would always dress beautifully like this, her arm elegantly looped through his as they walked into the room under the envious gazes of others.
Her dashing dad, her stunning mom, and her clever little self-they were always the center of attention at every event.
But those days… they were gone forever.
“Mr. Li, what do you think?”
The stylists, clearly proud of their work, pushed the slightly dazed Gu Xiaoai toward Li Juefeng.
Li Juefeng, engrossed in his newspaper, lifted his deep-set eyes at the sound of their question. His gaze landed on Gu Xiaoai, lingering briefly on the subtle curves revealed by the gown’s neckline. His eyes darkened, a flicker of desire igniting within them.
Without warning, he slammed the newspaper onto the lead stylist’s face. “Change it!”
What were they thinking, dressing his woman in something so mature and seductive? Did they want every man at the gala to ogle her chest?
Damn it. These stylists were practically handing him a green hat1.
Li Juefeng’s roar was like that of an enraged lion. Gu Xiaoai wisely kept her mouth shut, while one of the stylists nervously stepped forward, cautiously asking, “Mr. Li, what style would you prefer?”
“Not seductive!” Li Juefeng bellowed, his tone blunt and unapologetic.
…
