- Chapter 141 - Considering Throwing You Downstairs 1
Gu Xiaoai was unceremoniously plopped onto the sofa by Li Juefeng. Her slender shoulders trembled slightly, her eyes rimmed red, though not a single tear streaked her face. Her lips were pressed tightly together in stubborn silence.
Li Juefeng stared at her, baffled. Why did this woman always manage to cry over the most trivial things? Yet when he bullied her, she’d dig her heels in, refusing to yield unless he pushed her to the brink.
“Unlock her handcuffs,” he ordered coldly.
Gu Xiaoai finally lifted her gaze to look at him, confusion flickering in her eyes. Was he letting her go? Could he really be that kind-hearted?
“Are you setting me free?” she asked, watching housekeeper Tong unlock the cuffs, her voice tinged with disbelief.
How many days had he kept her locked up? Was he already bored of her and planning to send her away?
Ha…
Every other word out of her mouth was about him letting her go.
“Housekeeper Tong, bring Peter’s case over,” Li Juefeng said, his tone crisp and detached. His sharp gaze bore down on Gu Xiaoai, his thin lips curving into a cold, unfeeling line.
“…”
A blatant threat.
Was this his tactic? No need for creativity, as long as it worked? Scaring her into compliance-that was his goal, wasn’t it?
“Forget I said anything,” Gu Xiaoai muttered, pouting. As her left hand was freed, the pale skin of her wrist bore visible marks from the handcuffs.
She stood up from the sofa and began to walk, taking one tentative step after another. One meter… then another… It felt like such a rare luxury to walk freely, even if just for a few meters.
Li Juefeng watched her little act of self-amusement, his expression unreadable. Then, without warning, he strode forward, hoisted her over his shoulder, and headed for the door. “Let’s go. I’ll take you somewhere nice.”
“What kind of place?” Dangling uncomfortably over his shoulder, Gu Xiaoai squirmed. “Put me down first.”
Did he always have to use this move?
She wasn’t some sack of goods-why did he insist on carrying her like this?
“No.”
“Put me down.”
“I might consider throwing you down the stairs instead.”
“…”
Damn Li Juefeng. She should’ve smothered him in his sleep last night.
Between the two of them, it seemed their fate was either he’d die, or she’d lose her mind.
Gu Xiaoai gave up arguing, letting him carry her downstairs without further protest.
In the Main Hall, two rows of impeccably dressed men and women greeted in unison, “Mr. Li.”
“Mm,” Li Juefeng responded lazily, his tone indifferent. He set Gu Xiaoai down from his shoulder with little ceremony.
