The Autistic Puppy: A Gentle Soul - Chapter 7
I kicked my steps, walking home in boredom.
Recently, I’ve gotten used to riding in Qin Yu’s car, and suddenly having to walk home like before made my feet ache a bit.
A rustling sound came from behind me, but when I turned around, there was nothing.
I rubbed the goosebumps on my arms, “Could it be some thugs targeting me?”
I walked a few more steps, and there were still faint footsteps behind me.
I turned around abruptly and saw Qin Yu standing stiffly, a hint of a smile flickering in his eyes.
I turned and ran towards him.
Qin Yu stood there, seemingly wanting to hide, but there wasn’t even a trash can nearby, so he remained frozen in place.
Qin Yu’s CPU was overheating again.
“Qin Yu, are you following me?”
He glanced at my face indifferently, then slowly walked beside me without saying a word.
“Where’s your car?”
“Took my sister home.”
“Then why didn’t you go back?” He remained silent again.
I giggled and leaned closer, “Are you reluctant to leave me?”
Qin Yu didn’t speak, his steps faltering slightly, almost tripping over my teasing words.
“My house has plenty of rooms.”
I chattered all the way, and when we reached the building downstairs, Qin Yu suddenly spoke for the first time.
“Stay at my place.”
I was stunned, staring at him blankly, “What did you say?”
Qin Yu’s eyes seemed to hold a sprinkle of stars as he looked at me steadily, not repeating himself.
I instantly realized he must have heard Yang Chen say my parents were staying at his place while they were on a business trip.
I found it amusing, “I won’t stay at his place.”
Qin Yu’s expression seemed to lighten a bit, and he nodded.
“Okay.”
I kicked the stone by my foot, “Qin Yu, do you like me?”
A hint of panic flashed across Qin Yu’s face, his messy hair covering his expression.
He lowered his head too quickly for me to see anything.
I treated it as a joke, chuckled, and waved him off.
“Alright, you should go back. It’s quite an honor to be escorted home by the young master.”
Watching Qin Yu disappear from view, I turned to head home.
But the sight of my parents approaching startled me, “Weren’t you on a business trip?”
My mom’s face was stern, “Grandma is sick. I’ve already arranged with your teacher for you to take leave. Since you have only a week until summer vacation, we’re going straight to Grandma’s.”
Our hometown isn’t close, which means I won’t be able to attend school tomorrow morning.
So I took out my phone to message Qin Yu, and turned to follow my parents to Grandma’s house.
Late at night, as I scrolled through my phone, I still hadn’t received a reply from Qin Yu.
I frowned, scrolling through the chat history, “Is he still angry?”
The signal in the village wasn’t great, and all the messages I sent him were marked with red exclamation points.
After struggling until late, I only managed to send three messages, and Qin Yu never replied.
I sighed helplessly, tossing my phone aside.
But on the third night, in the dead of night, a pebble landed by my window.
I was startled, instinctively moving to the windowsill, and couldn’t help but widen my eyes–a cool young man stood beneath the window.
The silver glow of the moonlight cast a long shadow on him.
I ran downstairs in my nightgown.
Qin Yu stood by the village weeds, his arms covered in mosquito bites, occasionally raising his hand to gently pat them, his movements stiff like a delicate puppet.
I found it amusing, “Why are you here?”
I didn’t expect him to answer.
But he looked into my eyes and said earnestly, “Couldn’t reach you.”
I was taken aback, “Didn’t I send you messages?”
“Lost my phone.”
He pursed his lips, a hint of frustration in his eyes.
“It got stolen when I was taking you home.”
I found it amusing; it was probably the young master’s first time walking at night and he encountered a pickpocket.
“How did you find this place?”
“Asked your friends.”
I found it curious that someone like Qin Yu would inquire about me from others.
The more I thought about it, the funnier it seemed, and even the corners of my eyes were touched with a sprinkle of laughter.
Qin Yu seemed a bit annoyed by my laughter.
