Chapter 11
Hearing this, I almost spat out my drink, my emotions a tangled mess.
Jiang Yao didn’t notice my unease: “The news about that white moonlight is completely sealed off, and no one in the circle talks about it.”
“All we know is that when the Jiang Family had troubles, President Jiang was out for a while and was taken in by his white moonlight. Unfortunately, fate played a cruel joke, and President Jiang was forced by his family to marry someone he didn’t love, while the white moonlight passed away early.”
“Every time Mrs. Jiang makes a scene, President Jiang goes to her grave and sits there for a long, long time.”
I put down my wine glass, having lost all interest in staying.
After seeing Jiang Huaixu, I stood in the corner of the cocktail party.
Now, I look very different from seven years ago, even I might not recognize myself.
Yet, an unsettling feeling swept over me, leaving my heart heavy.
I found an excuse to leave the party early, promising to treat Jiang Yao to dinner tomorrow.
The cold air swept through my chest, easing the frustration somewhat.
At the same time, confusion and anger rose in my heart.
Turns out, after being forced to abandon everything, I’ve been turned into someone’s heart’s moon.
What does this mean?
I didn’t have time to ponder the answer.
Because at the hotel entrance, I saw the last person I wanted to see.
I almost immediately turned to leave.
But behind me came hurried footsteps.
Someone grabbed my wrist.
But quickly, as if in confusion, they released their grip, only holding onto a thin corner of my clothes.
“An Qin.”
In dreams, I imagined countless times his reaction upon discovering my faked death.
Perhaps anger, or indifference.
But reality was still unexpected.
His figure was elongated by the streetlight, his voice hoarse in the autumn wind.
“Sir, you’ve mistaken me, I don’t know this An Qin.”
“I wouldn’t mistake you.”
I didn’t respond, trying hard to pull away my clothes.
He staggered forward, blocking all light in front of me.
“Seven years…”
“I thought this time it was another illusion, or someone else being reckless enough to send another fake to me.”
“I fought a long psychological battle before daring to come find you.”
“So?”
I finally looked up.
This was the first time in seven years I seriously looked at him.
His face showed a moment of blankness, then shattered, revealing the pain within.
“So why did you sign that contract?” His eyes were red, “And why did you choose to leave me?”
