Sweet Revenge: Kissing the CEO's Uncle - Chapter 11
That night, I saw Damien sitting at his desk with a serious expression, while Wilder stood quietly beside him.
He looked impatient, yet dared not resist.
I suddenly remembered that after “breaking up” and blocking Wilder, he had tried to add me twice, but I ignored him.
Suddenly, the entire dormitory lost power, but within a minute, it came back on.
The light in my room flickered on, and Damien and Wilder both saw me leaning on the windowsill.
Wilder was startled.
Compared to him, Damien was much calmer and casually asked, “Do you know her?”
Wilder gritted his teeth, “Yes, she’s my ex-girlfriend…”
Damien’s expression shifted almost imperceptibly.
Wilder left Damien’s room and came to find me, his tone displeased.
“You really have some nerve, blocking me as soon as you joined Shaw Group. Don’t you know who will own Shaw Group in the future?”
I shook my head.
It’s hard to say; who knows if it will definitely be Wilder’s.
“Last time Margot told me you brought another man back for the night…” He paused and then asked, “Bronte, have you been using me from the start?”
I looked at Wilder, “If you want to think that way, there’s nothing I can do.”
“Wilder, I think a proper ex should completely disappear, so don’t come looking for me anymore.”
Wilder’s eyes reddened, his thin lips parted as if to speak but he held back, leaving a harsh remark, “You’d better resign before I take over Shaw Group.”
Just a week later, Damien’s health deteriorated, his face pale, and he became increasingly lethargic.
From the comments, I learned that I had sparked Wilder’s desire to take over the company, and Damien might leave the scene early.
My heart suddenly clenched.
Waiting at the office door for Damien to finish his meeting, once everyone had left, he called me in.
He was sitting on the sofa, looking somewhat tired, his long fingers rubbing the bridge of his nose.
“Bronte, what do you want?”
I want you to live a long and healthy life.
I smiled lightly, “I want to work well.”
“Are you sent by a rival company?”
I was stunned, “No.”
“You’ve been here for three months, rotated through all the key positions, worked overtime every night, and analyzed project plans in your notes.” He finished speaking and looked up at me, “Tell me, what do you want?”
I was silent. Damien mentioned three months, had he been paying attention to me since my first day?
“I want to become a capable executive, earn a lot of money, and never be bullied again.” I paused, “I want to be worthy of the countless times I’ve broken down and healed in the darkness.”
Damien’s pale yet stunning eyes turned faint, he asked, “Would you be willing to marry Wilder?”
Before I could be surprised, the comments exploded.
[Crazy, crazy, this book is completely off the rails, the male lead inexplicably likes an insignificant side character.]
[It’s not inexplicable, Bronte is too strong, treating Wilder like a punching bag, molding him at will, he was initially annoyed.]
[Then seeing Bronte truly doesn’t want him, he was broken, his pride couldn’t handle it, after all, Bronte is at most just a bit pretty!]
[And the female lead kissed someone else publicly to provoke Wilder, which also stimulated him.]
[He was rejected by Bronte again last time, complained at the bar, and Damien found out.]
[Bronte is so good at pretending, calm on the surface, but surely delighted inside. She really caught him.]
[If she weren’t good at pretending, she would’ve been driven mad by Margot and Scarlet, and her impoverished family.]
[What’s wrong with her family, did the book mention it?]
[It did, just a few lines, roughly her dad tried to sell her to an old man in the village for 200 when she was 14, she ran away, and almost ended up with her dad in a mutual destruction situation before it was over.]
[All her tuition was earned by washing dishes late into the night, a pitiful side character baby.]
[Come on, she had the guts to fight her dad, why didn’t she dare resist in middle school, tsk tsk.]
I think.
Perhaps, desperate resistance was for a better future.
Silent endurance was also for a better future.
It was that unbearable life, the original family, Scarlet, Margot.
That made me realize, after all the suffering, I’m just an insignificant side character.
The day I learned Margot was the protagonist, I made up my mind.
No matter where Margot is the protagonist.
In my world, I am the only protagonist, unshakable.
I looked seriously at Damien, “Mr. Shaw, I’m sorry, I don’t want to marry Wilder.”
Damien’s gaze flickered, seemingly puzzled, “He’s not very mature, but he’s still young. What you want in the future, you will have.”
I smiled lightly, “Mr. Shaw, do you believe in love at first sight? I have no feelings for Wilder, the brief ‘together’ days had reasons.”
Damien was silent, his eyes dark and deep, his thin lips lacking color, yet his sickly beauty was dazzling.
I slowly spoke, “The bigger reason is I like you, and I want to marry you.”
“If you don’t mind me, would you like to try with me?”
This time Damien was stunned, his expression calm as water, but his breathing was heavier.
[What did I just see!!! After kissing the male lead, now wants to marry the male lead’s dad.]
[To be precise, he’s the male lead’s uncle, Damien has always been single, his setting is no romance line, all business.]
[I’m increasingly confused by Bronte, what exactly is she trying to do, Damien is about to die.]
[If it were me, I’d be tempted too, Damien’s achievements and looks are too handsome.]
Damien didn’t speak, I greeted him and left.
That night, Damien coughed blood in his sleep, and called me, sleeping in the dormitory opposite.
I calmly cleaned the floor, poured water and handed medicine to Damien, then ventilated the room.
Damien lay on the bed and spoke softly, “Bronte, I won’t live much longer, you don’t need to…”
“Don’t need to please you, approach you, like you?”
Damien was speechless, lightly raised his eyebrows, and smiled, “Your personality and appearance are completely different.”
He carefully and gently observed me, “Your appearance looks gentle and quiet, but your personality is strong and stubborn.”
I laughed, “Yes, so when I say I like you, it won’t change.”
“Even if I can only live for another month?”
“Even if you can only live for another day.”
Phooey, phooey, phooey, Damien, I hope you live for a thousand years.
The air suddenly became quiet, my voice was very soft, “Damien, marry me.”
