Chapter 11
Xu Corporation gave me and the Cheng Family a fair chance to compete.
When things got busy, I could barely even see Xu Qingye.
When I finally got a break, I hadn’t even managed to dial his number yet.
Xu Qinghuang contacted me first.
Her tone was calm, but I could tell she wasn’t happy.
“Lin Tingwan, break up with Xu Qingye.”
The cup in my hand slipped to the floor, hot water spilling onto my pant leg.
It burned, but I couldn’t feel it-my heart throbbed painfully.
“Sister Huang…”
“A man like him isn’t good enough for you. Let’s find someone else, someone better.”
“…”
I rushed to the hospital.
Xu Qingye was sitting on a bench, his long legs bent.
His knuckles were covered with injuries.
Sister Huang was lying on the hospital bed, legs crossed, scolding Xu Qingye without missing a beat.
“Are you fucking stupid or just have too much money? Do you know how much you’ll have to pay in compensation?”
“Why don’t you just beat him to death? He ends up in a coffin, you end up in jail, long-term residence and it’s free-how convenient.”
Xu Qingye hung his head, expressionless. “I was stopped.”
Sister Huang was so angry she jumped up. “You really are sick!”
I only went in after their argument ended.
Xu Qingye said nothing, his features clouded with dejection.
I squatted down in front of him.
“Xu Qingye, does it hurt?”
He didn’t answer me. Instead, he pinched my chin and lifted my face.
“Have you been crying?”
Before I came, Sister Huang sent me a WeChat message.
She said Cheng Cheng had someone bring a message to Xu Qingye.
He was using all the surveillance videos about me from back then, in exchange for this cooperation.
Xu Qingye took people and smashed up Cheng Cheng’s office, and nearly beat him to death.
I didn’t care what was in those videos. What I cared about was Xu Qingye.
On the way here, Sister Huang told me he was injured, very badly.
In my panic, I sent him a whole string of messages, even saying I’d die with him.
“Xu Qingye, I don’t care.”
“I care.”
Xu Qingye couldn’t stand to see Lin Tingwan suffer.
He cared.
