Six Years Later: Wrecking His World with Quadruplets - Chapter 191
Chapter 191
“Right, right, exactly!”
Mumu nodded her head in deep agreement, then asked, “But will Daddy believe it?”
“From the look of things, he probably did. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have left so quickly,” Xianxian mused, reaching a conclusion.
Mumu nodded. “That’s good. We should tell Mommy about this right away…”
Xianxian agreed and quickly sent a message to Nan Zhiyi.
“The crisis has passed, Mommy. Don’t worry!”
At home, Nan Zhiyi finally breathed a sigh of relief when she received the message from Xianxian.
However, after this incident, she realized that continuing like this was indeed very dangerous. She couldn’t imagine how furious Di Shijing would be if he ever discovered the truth.
It seemed she really needed to find a way to resolve this matter as soon as possible…
What Nan Zhiyi didn’t know, however, was that Di Shijing hadn’t let go of his suspicions at all.
He was highly accomplished in calligraphy himself. With just one look, he could distinguish the specific brushwork and flow of a person’s handwriting. Therefore, he was more certain than ever that the handwriting in Nan Zhiyi’s house belonged to Wanwan!
Except…
Nan Zhiyi had only met Wanwan twice.
Once was at the hospital, and the other was at the company. Wanwan had never had the opportunity to write anything for Nan Zhiyi.
The only possibility, then, was that Nan Zhiyi had been in private contact with the children without his knowledge…
At that thought, Di Shijing’s eyes darkened.
Did Nan Zhiyi already know the identity of the two children? If she did, why hadn’t she told him? Or did she have some other motive?
Recalling how Nan Zhiyi had been approaching him, intentionally or otherwise, and the intimacy she had deliberately shown lately, his expression soured.
In the driver’s seat, Zhou Yi felt the oppressive aura radiating from his Master. He felt a bit apprehensive, his palms beginning to sweat. He didn’t know what had suddenly gotten into his Master when everything seemed fine just a moment ago…
Just as Zhou Yi was hesitating over whether to ask, Di Shijing suddenly gave an order.
“Assign a few people to keep an eye on Nan Zhiyi. I want to know her every move!”
Zhou Yi was surprised to hear this. He quickly asked, “Master, did something happen?”
Haven’t these two been getting along quite well lately? What was the conflict this time?
However, Di Shijing had no intention of explaining. His voice was cold and sharp as he said, “It’s nothing. Just watch her like I told you. Don’t ask so many questions.”
“Yes, Master. I’ll contact the team right away!”
Seeing that he didn’t intend to elaborate, Zhou Yi could only take the order and stop prying.
Because of this incident, Nan Zhiyi didn’t go to the Di Corporation for the next few days.
For one, the optimization data for the formulas had already been emailed to Lin Zhizhi. Research Lab 2 would be providing staff to help with the later stages, so it didn’t rely entirely on her anymore.
Secondly, the perfumes at her own institute had reached the final stages of development. It was a critical moment, and she couldn’t afford to be away.
Finally, and most importantly, it was to avoid Di Shijing. Only by avoiding contact with him could she prevent any further slips.
She hoped that time would eventually cause Di Shijing’s suspicions to fade.
In the evening, after finishing work, Nan Zhiyi prepared to drive out to pick up the children.
Halfway there, Nan Zhiyi’s sharp intuition kicked in; she felt like a car was following her…
At first, she thought she was overthinking it, so she paid closer attention for a while.
After a few moments, she was almost certain she wasn’t mistaken.
Anxiety immediately bubbled up within her.
She didn’t know who they were or what they wanted. Even if she called the police, she had no concrete evidence. They could easily claim they were just heading the same way.
Feeling restless, she thought it over and finally decided to make a phone call.
The call was answered almost instantly.
“What brought on this sudden call?” Jiang Mojue’s lighthearted laughter came through the line.
Nan Zhiyi was in no mood for jokes. She spoke to him in a hurried tone, “Jiang Mojue, I think I’m being followed. I don’t know who they are or what they’re after.”
“Where are you now?”
Jiang Mojue’s tone instantly shifted to serious, laced with a hint of coldness.
Nan Zhiyi replied, “I’m heading toward the kindergarten. I haven’t reached it yet, but I’m about to arrive at Changning Street.”
“Are you driving yourself?” Jiang Mojue asked in a calm, steady voice.
Nan Zhiyi nodded. “Yes.”
Jiang Mojue tried to soothe her. “Alright, don’t panic. I’ll bring some people over right now… Once you reach Changning Street, drive around the area for a couple of laps and wait to meet up with me.”
His words finally allowed Nan Zhiyi to relax a little.
“Okay, thank you for the trouble.”
On the other end, Jiang Mojue said earnestly, “There’s no need to be so polite with me.”
After ending the call, Nan Zhiyi slowed down and did her best to follow Jiang Mojue’s instructions, circling the area twice.
Since this was a busy downtown district with plenty of people and cars, her fear gradually began to dissipate.
About half an hour later, Jiang Mojue finally arrived and called her.
Following his instructions, Nan Zhiyi pulled over.
Perhaps Jiang Mojue’s appearance intimidated the other party, as the car behind her quickly stopped following. They made a turn and drove off immediately.
Seeing this, Nan Zhiyi still couldn’t fully put her mind at ease.
Jiang Mojue narrowed his eyes, memorizing the license plate number.
Noticing her unease, he comforted her, “Don’t be afraid. I’ll look into this and find out who they are.”
“Mhm.”
Nan Zhiyi nodded absentmindedly and went to pick up the children.
Jiang Mojue escorted her all the way back.
It was only when they arrived at Luyuan that the tension in Nan Zhiyi’s heart finally eased a bit.
She thanked Jiang Mojue once again. “I’ll treat you to dinner some other time.”
“Sure, I’ll be waiting.”
Jiang Mojue accepted readily. He didn’t stay long and left shortly after.
Before leaving, however, he arranged for several men to keep watch near Nan Zhiyi’s home to prevent any further incidents.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town.
Di Shijing had just finished work when Zhou Yi came in to report. “Master, the men sent to watch Miss Zhiyi reported that they seem to have been spotted. Not only that, but Miss Zhiyi also reached out to Jiang Mojue for help. Currently, Jiang Mojue’s men are stationed at Luyuan.”
Upon hearing this, Di Shijing’s gaze turned cold.
“Jiang Mojue?”
His voice dripped with irritation. “She certainly knows who to call!”
The moment something went wrong, she went straight to another man for help!
Zhou Yi didn’t know how to respond for a moment. All he could smell in the air was the overwhelming scent of jealousy, as if a massive vat of vinegar had been overturned.
