Six Years Later: Wrecking His World with Quadruplets - Chapter 183
Chapter 183
Upon hearing Lin Zhizhi mention ‘someone else,’ Nan Zhiyi immediately guessed she meant Nan Wanyue.
A sudden wave of discomfort washed over her. She turned and asked, “In previous years, did he always dance with Nan Wanyue?”
Lin Zhizhi had already pegged Nan Zhiyi and their President as a couple, even if it hadn’t been made public yet. She was certain that Nan Zhiyi would care about this.
Lin Zhizhi quickly smiled and said, “How could that be? Although the spot did technically belong to Nan Wanyue in previous years, the President has been so busy with other matters that he’s turned it down for the past few years.”
“However, if you don’t come this year, it’ll undoubtedly fall into Nan Wanyue’s lap again!”
Nan Zhiyi looked thoughtful. If Di Shijing really accepted a dance with Nan Wanyue this year…
The moment she imagined Nan Wanyue’s smug face, her thoughts came to a screeching halt. She really didn’t want to see that woman acting like a victor.
Thus, Nan Zhiyi said, “We’ll see when the time comes.”
Meanwhile, in the President’s Office.
Despite his busy schedule, Di Shijing was going over the annual gala guest list with Zhou Yi.
“Everyone who should be invited has been invited, and the notifications have been sent out. However, there are a few names I’m not sure about. Please take a look, Master.”
Di Shijing took the paper. Three names were written on it.
Zhou Yi watched him and explained, “One is Miss Zhiyi, and the others are the two owners of ZELING.”
He had been agonizing over these three for quite a while.
Miss Zhiyi and his Master were on such good terms; if he didn’t invite her and the Master took offense, he would be the one to suffer the consequences…
But if he invited ZELING’s assistant and didn’t invite the two owners, it would be hard to justify! Logically speaking, given ZELING’s current status in the business world, they weren’t actually qualified to receive an invitation yet. However, the two companies were currently in such a close partnership.
Zhou Yi had nearly pulled all his hair out over this dilemma.
Before Di Shijing could respond, a childish, milky voice came from outside the door. “There’s nothing to hesitate about. Invite them all, of course.”
Di Shijing looked over and saw the two little ones from home running in, small backpacks still on their shoulders. He immediately questioned them, “Why aren’t you home after school? Why did you come to the company?”
Xianxian walked in and plopped down on the sofa, saying righteously, “Pretty Auntie took care of us when we were in the hospital. We thought it would be polite to show our gratitude. That’s why we came-we want to take her out for a meal.”
He then added, “It was my sister’s idea.”
Di Shijing couldn’t help but look at his daughter, only to see the little girl nodding her head with a face full of pleading.
He frowned, his face clearly showing his reluctance.
Back at the hospital, he had already suspected that these two little ones treated Nan Zhiyi differently. Their intimacy was suspicious! Now they had made a special trip just to treat her to dinner-wasn’t that just a way to get even closer to her?
And that was exactly what Di Shijing didn’t want to see.
So, he spoke up. “She’s working. Don’t go disturbing her. If thanks are in order, I will handle it on my end.”
Xianxian shook his head in total disagreement. “A thank-you needs to be sincere; it requires action. If it’s just sending gifts or throwing money around, then forget it. It might even make her feel uncomfortable.”
After his lecture, he delivered a final blow.
“Besides, Daddy didn’t even invite her to the annual gala. How sincere can you be?”
Beside him, Mumu nodded her little head in fervent agreement. Even though she didn’t speak, her bright, soulful eyes were telling him: ‘You really don’t get it!’
Being looked down upon by his own son and daughter, Di Shijing found it rather amusing. He couldn’t help but ask in return, “Would inviting her to the gala prove my sincerity?”
Xianxian heard this and asked, “Why can’t we? Pretty Auntie works at our company, so she’s part of the team. It wouldn’t be right not to invite your own employee. Besides…”
The little guy paused before continuing, “There’s a dance on the annual gala schedule. Rather than seeing Daddy dance with someone else, we’d much rather see you dance with Pretty Auntie!”
“Exactly!”
Mumu spoke up in her sweet, milky voice, nodding in support.
Then, she trotted over and grabbed her father’s hem, shaking it with a spoiled pout. “Daddy, please invite Pretty Auntie…”
Di Shijing, who was usually calm and self-possessed, found it hard to resist this succession of soft, childish pleas.
Looking at the little girl by his leg, his heart softened. Ever since his daughter started kindergarten, she had truly begun trying to speak, just as they had agreed.
Though she didn’t say much, Di Shijing was almost defenseless every time she opened her mouth. No matter what she asked for, he would eventually agree; it worked every single time.
Sure enough, this time was no different.
He didn’t hold out for long before Di Shijing took hold of his daughter’s swaying hand and said, “Alright then.”
“Yay!”
The two little ones immediately broke into satisfied smiles.
“Then can we invite Auntie to have dinner with us tonight?”
Di Shijing hummed in agreement.
Xianxian took the opportunity to push his luck further. “Then can we go find her at her workplace?”
“It’s almost time to get off work. If Pretty Auntie leaves, it’ll be too late.”
Hearing this, Di Shijing clearly didn’t want them to go. After all, they were at the company, and there were too many eyes and ears around. He didn’t want to cause any unnecessary trouble, so he said, “I can just call her and let her know.”
Xianxian curled his little lip and grumbled inwardly. Daddy was being so dallying. He should clearly know she was their mommy; wasn’t it natural for children to depend on their mother and want to see her?
However, to secure a chance to spend time with Mommy, the little guy had to use more of his silver tongue. “That’s so insincere. If you’re inviting someone to dinner, you should naturally do it in person.”
Di Shijing felt their persistence in wanting to see Nan Zhiyi and narrowed his eyes slightly. “Why are you two so obsessed with her?”
“You’ve… only met her once!” He emphasized the last few words heavily.
For a moment, the office fell silent.
Xianxian was only startled for a second. Facing that oppressive gaze, he said unhurriedly, “Didn’t we say it before? We feel a great sense of familiarity with that auntie.”
“Besides, she’s exceptionally beautiful! Like a fairy. I’ve never seen such a pretty auntie before!”
He delivered the flattery with practiced ease.
Upon hearing this, Di Shijing’s expression softened, feeling inexplicably helpless and amused. So, the reason these two little ones liked Nan Zhiyi so much was simply because she was beautiful?
At that thought, that bright and exquisite face surfaced in his mind. She was indeed unforgettable.
Di Shijing had thought the children had discovered something, but it seemed he had worried for nothing. He granted his permission immediately. “You may go, but you are not allowed to disturb her work.”
The two little ones patted their chests and promised, “We definitely won’t!”
“Take them to find Nan Zhiyi,” Di Shijing instructed Zhou Yi.
“Understood.”
Zhou Yi complied and led the two little ones out.
Soon, the three of them arrived at Research Lab 2.
Nan Zhiyi was currently discussing a set of data with Lin Zhizhi when she suddenly heard a wave of exclamations from the colleagues around her, followed by respectful greetings: “Young Miss, Young Master.”
