Six Years Later: Wrecking His World with Quadruplets - Chapter 179
Chapter 179
“Mhm…”
Xianxian nodded.
Having received this response, Di Shijing stopped pressing Principal Fang for accountability. “In that case, you may leave.”
Principal Fang felt an immediate sense of relief. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she said gratefully, “Thank you for your understanding, Young Master Di.”
Turning her gaze toward Xianxian, she added, “And thank you, Young Master.”
Thankfully, the Young Master had spoken up for them; otherwise, how could their kindergarten have possibly withstood the consequences?
After expressing her gratitude, the principal left with the teacher.
Di Shijing, still uneasy, remained in the ward to watch over his daughter. Mumu was usually very healthy, but once she fell ill, her immunity dropped. It wasn’t long before she developed a fever again…
Meanwhile, Nan Zhiyi was still unaware of any of this.
She had specifically finished her afternoon workload early, intending to get to the kindergarten ahead of schedule to see the two children. Her goal was to avoid running into Di Shijing.
To her surprise, upon arrival, a teacher informed her, “Hengheng and Wanwan were sent to the hospital this afternoon.”
Nan Zhiyi’s heart leaped into her throat, her mind racing with anxiety. Why were they suddenly in the hospital when they had been perfectly fine? Why hadn’t Xianxian said anything?
Standing at the kindergarten entrance, she immediately dialed Xianxian’s number.
At that moment, Di Shijing was right beside him. Seeing the caller ID, Xianxian quickly declined the call and sent a message to his mommy to explain the situation.
After reading her son’s text, Nan Zhiyi didn’t feel relieved at all; instead, her worry intensified. As a medical professional, she knew exactly how fragile a child’s gastrointestinal system was. Overeating would definitely harm their bodies!
This was especially true for Mumu. Because she was the last to be born, she had the weakest constitution. Over the past few years, Nan Zhiyi had put a lot of effort into nurturing her health with strict supervision, which was why she hadn’t had many issues lately…
She never expected this to happen on their very first day at the kindergarten!
Nan Zhiyi rushed to the hospital.
Only when she arrived did she realize she needed an excuse to see the children. After thinking for a long time and finding no better way, she turned toward the flower shop across the street. She bought a bouquet, intending to pretend she was there to visit another patient.
Nan Zhiyi had already found out Mumu’s ward number. Stepping out of the elevator, she stood outside the room, gathered her courage, and knocked on the door.
A moment later, the door opened. Nan Zhiyi looked up and found Zhou Yi standing there.
Zhou Yi was visibly startled when he saw her.
“M-Miss Zhiyi? What are you doing here?”
Nan Zhiyi feigned great surprise and replied, “I’m here to visit a patient. Why are you here?”
To avoid suspicion, she pretended to take a step back, checked the ward number, and muttered, “Did I go to the wrong room?”
She then pulled out her phone as if cross-referencing the room number…
Inside the ward, Mumu had already woken up. Di Shijing was in the middle of feeding her water, but his hand froze when he heard the voice.
Xianxian and Mumu were more familiar with their mommy’s voice than anyone else. The two siblings felt a surge of energy and exchanged a quick look.
Mommy is here?
Though they were excited, their little faces remained calm, doing their best not to show any emotion.
At that moment, they heard their mommy’s voice from outside again. “Ah, it’s 1609. This is 1606. I really did go to the wrong room. My apologies…”
Zhou Yi struggled to maintain his composure as he replied, “It’s no problem.”
Inwardly, he was praying for Miss Zhiyi to leave quickly, or she would run right into the Young Master and Young Miss!
Fortunately, Nan Zhiyi didn’t ask any more questions. She tucked her phone away, smiled at Zhou Yi, and said, “Then I’ll be going now.”
“Take care, Miss Zhiyi.”
Zhou Yi was about to close the door after saying that.
However, Nan Zhiyi stopped after only two steps. She turned back and asked, “Special Assistant Zhou, is one of your family members sick?”
Her concern made Zhou Yi’s scalp tingle with tension. Fearing he might slip up, he shook his head repeatedly. “No, no, it’s…”
Zhou Yi didn’t know how to answer for a moment. After all, the two children inside were Miss Zhiyi’s own flesh and blood. Over the years, his Master had hidden them well. Even though he had many interactions with Miss Zhiyi now, he had never revealed anything about the two children.
Zhou Yi looked troubled.
Nan Zhiyi noticed his expression and let out a small, self-deprecating laugh. “It’s fine if it’s not convenient to say. I was being intrusive. Go back to your work; I’ll be heading off now.”
With that, she walked straight toward Room 1609.
Zhou Yi breathed a sigh of relief and closed the door.
Xianxian, who was sitting on a small chair, watched Zhou Yi return and asked with feigned ignorance, “Uncle Zhou, who was that lady just now?”
Zhou Yi glanced at his Master. Seeing no reaction, he told Xianxian, “No one, she just had the wrong room.”
Ignoring the familiar voice, Di Shijing picked up the medicine the doctor had prepared and brought it to Mumu. “Be good, hurry up and take your medicine,” he urged.
Mumu stared at the medicine her daddy was trying to feed her…
She wasn’t usually afraid of taking medicine, but when she realized her mommy was right there but couldn’t come in, she had a sudden idea. She immediately wrinkled her nose and turned her face away, refusing to take it no matter what.
Di Shijing began to coax her. “Wanwan, be good. Take your medicine first so you can get better.”
However, despite his long efforts to soothe her, the little girl refused to cooperate.
Just then, there was another knock on the hospital room door.
It was Nan Zhiyi again.
She had already finished visiting her patient!
As soon as Zhou Yi saw her, he felt a desperate urge to slam the door shut.
“Miss Zhiyi, why are you back?”
Nan Zhiyi said, “I was thinking about it just now. Is the reason it’s inconvenient to say because your Master is in the room? Is he sick?”
Zhou Yi immediately denied it. “No!”
Hearing his mommy’s voice, Xianxian immediately raised his voice and called out to Mumu, “Wanwan, you have to be good and take your medicine to get better! Your fever hasn’t broken yet, and you’ll keep feeling bad if you don’t. Listen to Daddy!”
The little boy’s voice was intentionally loud. Realization seemed to dawn on Nan Zhiyi as she looked at Zhou Yi.
Seeing that he could no longer hide it, Zhou Yi had no choice but to come clean. “Actually… it’s our Young Miss who is sick. She wasn’t feeling well, so she was hospitalized.”
Nan Zhiyi nodded and immediately offered, “Children need coaxing when they won’t take their medicine. Do you… need some help?”
Zhou Yi hesitated, turning back to look at the person inside the room.
Di Shijing’s eyes darkened. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking as he stared at the door, as if trying to see through the wood to read Nan Zhiyi’s expression.
This woman… Didn’t she abandon the children back then? Why was she suddenly acting so concerned now?
Seeing that his daddy wasn’t speaking and worried that his mommy might be chased away, Xianxian simply walked over and swung the door wide open.
Nan Zhiyi’s gaze collided unexpectedly with the man inside.
His eyes were deep and unfathomable. Nan Zhiyi’s heart skipped a beat.
Forcing herself to remain calm, she greeted him, “President Di.”
Di Shijing didn’t say a word, but Xianxian spoke up proactively.
“Pretty lady, who are you? Are you a friend of Daddy’s? How come I haven’t seen you before?”
The little boy asked in a sweet, childish voice, looking full of curiosity.
Nan Zhiyi looked down at the little fellow, thinking to herself: He’s acting like it’s the real thing.
A gentle smile touched her lips as she leaned down and patted his head, acting as if she really were meeting him for the first time.
“Hello. I’m a client of your daddy’s.”
“Oh, I see.”
Xianxian nodded, his bright eyes fixed intently on Nan Zhiyi as he asked, “Pretty lady, would you like to come in and sit for a while?”
Nan Zhiyi’s purpose for coming to the hospital was exactly this. Naturally, she didn’t refuse. She nodded and followed Xianxian inside.
Her movements were so natural that Zhou Yi didn’t even have time to stop her.
When he turned around, he saw the Young Master-who usually disliked being close to strangers-eagerly pulling out a chair for Nan Zhiyi.
“Pretty lady, please have a seat.”
Di Shijing watched his son’s behavior.
This boy had never been this affectionate with any other woman.
Nan Zhiyi was worried Di Shijing would notice something. She tried her best to act natural as she thanked Xianxian, but her eyes were fixed on the daughter in Di Shijing’s arms.
