seven-year itch - Chapter 23
Jiang Wan and that man are not lovers.
That man is the youngest son of the president of Song Group, Song Chengze.
The future successor of Song Group.
Jiang Wan is now his special assistant.
This is what a friend told me.
My friend met Jiang Wan while negotiating business.
She had returned to her former confident, radiant self.
She handled business negotiations with ease.
The project that had been stalled for so long was easily secured by Jiang Wan.
On the night the project was won, Song Chengze held a celebration banquet.
He confessed to Jiang Wan at the banquet.
Very high-profile.
Just like I did back then.
But the difference was, he said to Jiang Wan, “Jiang Wan, after being with me, you don’t have to hide your brilliance. Do whatever you want.”
“I hope you can be yourself for the rest of your life.”
But Jiang Wan refused.
She said she didn’t want to enter another relationship for now; she wanted to spend the holiday happily with Huanhuan.
My friend even showed me Jiang Wan’s latest social media posts.
She was no longer that boring housewife.
She could ski, rock climb, and even went bungee jumping.
I gripped my wine glass, filled with cheap liquor costing ten yuan a bottle.
I tilted my head back and drank it all in one go.
So, this is who she was meant to be.
I was the one who held her back.
With tears in my eyes, I grabbed my friend’s hand and begged him never to cheat.
The next second, Zhou Qing grabbed my hair from behind and slapped me hard.
I was so drunk I didn’t even have the strength to fight back.
My friend tried to say a few words to calm things down, then left.
Zhou Qing clung to me, screaming like a madwoman.
“You don’t care that the child has a fever, you’re hiding here thinking about your ex-wife-Gu Ming, do you have any shame?”
“Following you is the worst luck I’ve had in eight lifetimes! I finally gave birth to a son, thought I could rise in status, but you gave all your assets to that useless woman! The son I carried for ten months is a damn vegetable! It’s all you! You ruined me! I’m so young and beautiful! I should have had a great life!”
Zhou Qing was hysterical.
I threw my head back and laughed.
The house was filled with the wailing of that brain-damaged son.
I lay on the floor, laughing until tears streamed down my face.
On the ceiling, I saw Jiang Wan’s image, debating on stage.
I reached out, trying to grasp it.
But suddenly, Zhou Qing’s twisted face appeared before me.
I slapped her.
With that slap, Zhou Qing hit the corner of the table, the wine bottle shattered, glass piercing her body.
I saw Zhou Qing bleed-so much blood.
She lay there motionless, like a dead pig.
I don’t know how long passed before I heard the sound of sirens.
When the police broke down the door, I picked up the kitchen knife.
And swung it at my lower body.
As my consciousness faded, I saw myself on my wedding day with Jiang Wan.
I lowered my head and looked at my blood-soaked lower half.
How wonderful.
Now I could give her a marriage that would be loyal forever.
