Chapter 5
No wonder, no wonder in my past life I was so overwhelmed by emotions.
I thought it was the excitement of reuniting with an old acquaintance that clouded my judgment and led me to make mistakes.
Now it seems, Chen Yinan had been prepared all along.
“Stop the car!”
I needed to escape this cramped and enclosed space immediately.
Chen Yinan, however, did not stop. “Yanyan, we’re on the overpass, we can’t stop.”
I glanced at the navigation; there were still fifteen minutes to our destination, but it would take thirteen minutes to get off the overpass.
“Cover the incense and put it in the armrest box,” I said coldly.
Chen Yinan’s back stiffened for a moment, but he obediently complied.
Those short fifteen minutes felt like fifteen years to me.
As soon as the car reached the entrance of the venue, I slammed the door and got out.
Chen Yinan sat in the driver’s seat, looking at me through the window, his eyes seemed to carry a trace of sadness.
But I couldn’t be bothered to care.
I searched the crowd for Yuan Chen’s figure, and finally, I spotted that familiar tall and straight back in a black suit.
“Honey.” I quickly stepped forward, smiling as I linked my arm with his.
“Yanyan?” Yuan Chen looked at me with a hint of surprise, but quickly composed himself.
“What’s wrong?” I playfully pouted at him, “Aren’t you happy to see me?”
Yuan Chen’s stern face immediately softened with a hint of a smile. “Of course not. I just didn’t expect… you to wear this.”
I shook my bracelet, indicating that what I wore was not just an outfit, but also his deep yet restrained affection for me.
We walked towards the registration desk under the envious gazes of others.
Outside the hall behind us, Chen Yinan slowly rolled up the car window, shutting out his gloomy face.
