Chapter 4

The next day, Damien was nowhere to be found when I woke up.

I ate my sandwich breakfast, took a deep breath for three seconds, and opened my phone.

To my surprise, all the negative comments seemed to have vanished overnight.

Even the media outlets that criticized me the most had their official accounts shut down.

A few media friends who still kept in touch sent me a photo of my parents visiting their company, captioned: [All sorted out.]

I smiled broadly.

I knew my parents wouldn’t really abandon me.

After all, they had always stepped in to resolve those big and small messes in the past.

[Seriously, the second male lead always silently helps the female lead, only to hand over the credit to those two opportunistic parents…]

[Damien Sinclair, the CEO with the coldest demeanor in the business world, washing underwear. When his wife is happy, he serves her joyfully. When she’s not, he serves her coldly.]

Shocked, I shifted my gaze from the barrage of comments to the phone screen.

I stared at the photo of my parents for a full ten minutes and really noticed signs of Photoshop…

I opened WeChat and scrolled all the way down to find Damien:

[Are you free today? I have something to tell you.]

He replied instantly: [Wrong person.]

“……”

[No, Honey~]

This time, his reply was slow:

[I’m sorry about last night, for letting you see those disgusting scenes. I’m very busy today. If you want a divorce, contact a lawyer first.]

[No, no, no,] I quickly countered, [Not a divorce.]

Damien: [Alright, see you in the afternoon.]

Comments:

[What a close call, the supporting female character narrowly escaped the dark room play again. It feels like she’s realizing something and is trying to save herself.]
