Chapter 2
I spent the entire afternoon sorting things out.
Finally, I understood that the world I was living in was actually a sweet romance novel.
Aurora Lockewood is the female lead, while I am the vicious supporting character who did all sorts of evil deeds and was imprisoned to death by the second male lead.
No wonder anyone who went near Aurora would be attracted to her, as if the whole world revolved around her.
There was just too much information to process today.
After taking a shower at night, I turned on my phone, hoping to relax a bit, and saw a flood of negative comments.
Almost all my social apps had been bombarded. The netizens were all standing up for the female lead Aurora.
My childhood friend Flynn Shaw sent me a WeChat message:
[Lilith Chambers, don’t think I don’t know-you’re just trying to use such dirty tricks to force me to leave Rory and be with you.]
[Heh, going through all that trouble just to see me? Fine, you got your wish. Friday afternoon, the usual place!]
I didn’t reply. After blocking him, I turned off my phone screen.
The bullet comments surged:
[I’m not trying to whitewash her, but honestly, the villainess’s malice isn’t entirely without reason. A proud, self-important little heiress-overnight, her parents, lover, and friends all started ignoring her like they were bewitched, caring only about another girl. I’d go crazy too.]
[The villainess is pretty and rich, so why does she always lose to the female lead, who can’t even tell Slack from Teams? This story makes no sense…]
[If I were the author, I’d slap that crazy female lead once, the male lead twice, then lock the villainess and the yandere second male lead together for a hate-fuck. No one leaves the basement until they’ve popped out eight kids, how about that?]
“……”
Not great, honestly…
After calming myself down, I got ready to sleep, just as I took off my underwear.
Suddenly, the bedroom door was opened.
Damien’s gaze landed somewhere on my body, traveling up and down.
I quickly grabbed my bathrobe and draped it over myself.
“Sorry, you didn’t lock the door.”
Damien looked at me with burning eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing, the black scales on his body faintly visible.
When an Incubus is aroused, they can’t help but reveal their true form…
The word “Get out” was on the tip of my tongue.
Then I saw the bullet comments:
[I can already guess-the villainess is definitely going to look all high and mighty and say “Get out,” as if she’s too good for him. Such a beauty, but she keeps digging her own grave. That’s how the second male lead’s love gets worn down, bit by bit.]
[Lilith, be gentler to your husband. If you slap him now, in the basement later, your mouth’s going to pay the price. Split lips hurt a lot, you know.]
Reminded by the bullet comments, I changed my tone, giving Damien a small smile:
“It’s fine, Hu-”
Damien, who was about to leave, stopped in his tracks, his eyes dark and deep, waiting for me to finish.
Ugh, it’s all the bullet comments’ fault, egging me on just now.
They even led me astray…
[I’m dying over here, hurry up and say it! Just call him Hubby, and he’ll give you his life! Who cares about the female lead!]
[Can you guys not make the second male lead sound so cheap? Three years of cold violence-he definitely hates the villainess more than he loves her. Besides, have you forgotten? He imprisoned her to death in order to protect the female lead.]
The bullet comments split into two camps and started arguing.
I raised my eyebrows, curious to test the truth of these statements, and played along with the scenario:
“Damien, do I have a good figure?”
“Average.” The man lowered his eyes calmly, his expression unreadable.
[You’re just pretending, man. Acting all tough won’t get you a wife. No wonder after all these years, the villainess still likes the male lead. You kind of deserve it, honestly.]
[Did I wake up in an alternate universe? Why does it feel like the villainess isn’t annoyed with the second male lead today? Are our villain couple CP fans finally getting a happy ending???]
Unwilling to give up, I took a step forward and teased, “You didn’t even look, how do you know it’s just average?”
“No need to look.” Damien replied coldly, but his fingertips curled up involuntarily, the joints tinged a faint pink, nearly tearing the seam on his pants.
How come I never noticed before-this man’s shy side is actually kind of cute.
I noticed Damien’s collar was a mess and reached out to help him straighten it.
“Don’t touch.” A cold, low warning sounded above my head.
Fierce.
I froze, recalling the bullet comments’ heated argument just now.
True, for three years I never gave Damien a kind look. Instead, it was Aurora, like a little sun, always encouraging him to come out of his shell.
It’s only natural that Damien would hate me.
I laughed at myself and withdrew my hand from mid-air. “Remember to close the door on your way out. I’m going to sleep.”
The man closed the door, but instead of leaving, he walked step by step toward me.
His hot, heavy breathing grew more and more obvious, his eyes reddened with forbearance to a frightening degree.
I finally realized something was off. “Damien, what’s wrong? Do you have a fever?”
Bullet comments:
[To be precise, he’s in heat… Not you, second male lead, don’t love her too much. The villainess was just teasing you out of boredom, and you went and brought forward your heat cycle.]
“Heat cycle?” I murmured.
We’ve been married for three years, how did I never know Damien had a heat cycle?
Bullet comment: [The villainess is so dumb, she actually thought the second male lead was cold and unfeeling. Please, he’s an Incubus! And you’ve got the best body and looks in the whole book. He just couldn’t bring himself to force you, that’s all.]
[During heat cycles before, Damien would secretly take one of your undergarments and leave early so you wouldn’t see him.]
[That reminds me, those clothes are so pitiful, almost worn out by our uniquely gifted second male lead…]
I stared at the scrolling bullet comments, as if watching a screen full of mosaics.
Could it be that he wouldn’t let me touch him just now because he was in heat?
Damien, unable to bear it, buried his face in my neck, rubbing back and forth.
His pale skin was flushed with a layer of red, tinged with desire, softening the aloofness he usually wore like armor.
Previously, I’d been focused solely on dealing with Aurora, trying to win back my childhood friend Flynn, and had never taken a proper look at Damien.
I never realized this man could be so good-looking.
His features were more exquisite than any celebrity on TV.
