Chapter 124
On Wednesday morning, Tang Huaijin looked helplessly at his sister, who was packing his suitcase for him, and said softly, “Sis, you don’t need to pack so many clothes. I’m only going for a few days.”
“It’s almost winter now, the weather is unpredictable. What if you get cold?” Tang Yaoyao knelt on the bed, struggling to stuff a coat into the already full suitcase.
After squeezing the coat in, she called her brother over to help press down, zipped up the suitcase, and only then nodded in satisfaction, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
Looking at the suitcase that was bulging out, Tang Huaijin doubted that if it weren’t for the good quality, it would have burst open by now. He gave a wry smile and said, “Sis, it’s not like we haven’t been to Jingdu before. The weather’s about the same as here.”
Tang Yaoyao pouted at his words, a bit dissatisfied. “But before, I always went with you.”
Although Tang Huaijin had traveled before, it was always the two siblings together. This was the first time her brother was going out alone, and she still felt uneasy. Thinking about how he’d be leaving after lunch, her heart felt hollow and lost.
Tang Yaoyao held her brother’s hand, hesitated for a moment, and said softly, “Jin, how about I take a leave and go with you?”
Tang Huaijin was also reluctant to part from his sister. He gently hugged her, and when she obediently rested her head on his chest, he smiled and said, “Sis, it’s fine. I’ll only be gone a few days. I’ll be back on Saturday, okay?”
Tang Yaoyao’s small hand gently stroked his chest, her voice soft. “Mm, Jin, you have to be good too. Video call me every night.”
“Okay, got it.” Tang Huaijin grinned, lifted his sister’s rounded chin with a finger, and teased, “Don’t be sad. Give me a kiss.”
“You’re so annoying.” Tang Yaoyao rolled her eyes at him coquettishly, but didn’t move her head away. Instead, she gently closed her eyes, letting her brother savor her lips.
Just as the two were getting intimate, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Ding dong~
The crisp sound of the doorbell snapped Yaoyao back to her senses. She hurriedly pulled his hand out from her pajamas, glared at him in embarrassment and annoyance, and said angrily, “Go open the door.”
“Oh…” Tang Huaijin chuckled awkwardly and nodded, about to get out of bed to open the door, but stopped at the edge, a bit embarrassed. “You go instead, Sis.”
Tang Yaoyao realized what was going on, sneaked a glance at the unusual bulge below him, and huffed, “All you ever think about is that, you little perv.”
With that, she quickly straightened her clothes, ran to the bathroom to check herself in the mirror, and then hurried over to open the door for Shen Yiqiu.
Shen Yiqiu was standing at the door, just about to take out her phone to call Tang Yaoyao. Seeing the door open, she looked over in confusion.
Tang Yaoyao’s expression was a bit unnatural. Meeting her questioning gaze, she said awkwardly, “Um, I was just in Jin’s room helping him pack, didn’t hear you.”
“It’s fine.” Shen Yiqiu nodded, followed Tang Yaoyao into the living room, and not seeing Tang Huaijin, asked, “Where is he? Not home?”
Tang Yaoyao looked even more embarrassed, secretly blaming her brother for not coming out yet. Luckily, Tang Huaijin came out of the room at that moment.
His expression was also a bit odd as he said, “Ah, Teacher Shen, you’re here. I was just packing my suitcase.”
Shen Yiqiu turned to glance at Tang Yaoyao. What kind of suitcase needs two people to pack?
But she didn’t dwell on it, and said softly, “Hello.”
Tang Yaoyao was already feeling guilty, and naturally noticed Shen Yiqiu’s look. Her face couldn’t hold it anymore, so she quickly stood up and walked to the kitchen, saying, “Jin, you chat with your teacher for a bit. Lunch will be ready soon.”
Tang Huaijin glanced at his sister’s back with a headache, sat down by the sofa, and tried to make conversation. “Teacher Shen, you’re here early.”
Shen Yiqiu glanced at the clock on the wall and said blandly, “Not early. We have to leave after lunch.”
Seeing she had no intention of sitting closer, Tang Huaijin was relieved and started chatting with her idly.
After lunch, Tang Yaoyao drove the two of them to the high-speed rail station.
Tang Yaoyao had already recovered from the earlier awkwardness. She accompanied them all the way to the ticket gate. Watching her brother’s back as he carried his suitcase, she felt reluctant again, her eyes turning slightly red. She walked over and gently hugged her brother, her voice soft. “Jin, be careful on the road and come home early.”
“Okay, I know.” Tang Huaijin smiled gently as he hugged his sister. If it weren’t for Teacher Shen being there, he would have wanted to kiss his sister right then.
Seeing the two of them hugging for a long while as if no one else was around, even knowing they were siblings, Shen Yiqiu couldn’t help but frown slightly. She cleared her throat and said, “Yaoyao, we should go. We might be late.”
Tang Yaoyao’s cheeks flushed. Only then did she let go of her brother, looking a bit embarrassed as she said to Shen Yiqiu, “Yiqiu, please take care of my brother.”
After speaking, she hesitated for a moment, walked over to Shen Yiqiu, and whispered in her ear, “And Jin tends to attract girls, so please help me keep an eye on him. Don’t let him get tricked by bad women.”
Shen Yiqiu’s expression became a bit awkward. She nodded hesitantly and said somewhat unnaturally, “Mm, don’t worry, I’ll definitely take good care of him.”
After waving goodbye to his tearful sister, the two of them went through the ticket check and entered the station, finding their seats according to the numbers on their tickets.
Shen Yiqiu had bought business class seats, which were two seats connected together.
Shen Yiqiu sat down first in the inner seat. As soon as she was settled, she very naturally lifted the armrest between them, sneaking a glance at Tang Huaijin as if waiting for him to sit down.
Tang Huaijin’s eyelids twitched slightly. He hesitated for a moment before carefully sitting down beside her.
Fortunately, Shen Yiqiu didn’t make any other moves. She quietly closed her eyes, and after the high-speed train slowly started moving, she opened her eyes slightly and said calmly, “I get motion sickness. I’m going to sleep for a while. If there’s nothing important, don’t disturb me.”
…Do people really get motion sickness on trains?
But Tang Huaijin couldn’t say anything about it. He nodded and said softly, “Alright, you sleep. I’ll wake you when we arrive.”
After a while, seeing that Shen Yiqiu kept her eyes closed and seemed to have really fallen asleep, Tang Huaijin gradually relaxed. If Teacher Shen could stay this well-behaved for the whole trip, he would be more than grateful.
Shen Yiqiu hadn’t put on any makeup today. Maybe because there were a lot of people at the train station, she dressed very conservatively, a black suit covering her impressive figure.
As she slept, Teacher Shen seemed to have shed her usual cold expression. The corners of her lips curved slightly, as if she was dreaming of something that made her happy. Her expression looked a bit gentle, and she slept with steady breathing.
Watching her, Tang Huaijin couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Since Shen Yiqiu usually wore a blank expression, seeing her look so gentle for once was actually kind of cute.
Actually, she and his sister should be about the same age, but compared to his sister, Shen Yiqiu’s personality seemed much more withdrawn.
Lost in thought, Tang Huaijin suddenly felt a slight weight on his shoulder, snapping him back to reality. He stiffly looked at Shen Yiqiu, who was leaning on his shoulder. He was about to call her name, but then remembered what she had said earlier-something about not calling her unless it was important…
Uh… A teacher leaning on a student’s shoulder probably wasn’t a big deal, at most it was just a sign of friendly support between teacher and student.
Besides, he didn’t dare provoke Shen Yiqiu. If he made the beautiful teacher angry, he’d be in trouble.
But seeing Shen Yiqiu’s breathing become less steady and her eyelashes trembling slightly, Tang Huaijin couldn’t help but twitch the corners of his mouth, silently turning his head away and closing his eyes.
Shen Yiqiu was indeed already awake. Seeing that he didn’t say anything, she felt somewhat satisfied. As if she wasn’t sleeping comfortably, she gently rubbed her head against his shoulder, then slowly slid off his shoulder and rested on his lap.
Tang Huaijin’s breath caught, and he instinctively called out, “Shen…”
He had barely uttered a syllable when he saw Shen Yiqiu’s brows furrow, and he immediately swallowed the rest of his words.
Shen Yiqiu kept her eyes tightly shut, her small hand naturally resting on his leg, her five slender fingers gently stroking.
Tang Huaijin was still young, full of energy, and the warm breath from her slightly parted lips made his heart itch uncontrollably, and he couldn’t help but react.
Since these were business class seats, each pair was set far apart, and there was no one else in their row, so no one noticed them.
Tang Huaijin didn’t dare call her now. Whether Shen Yiqiu was really asleep or just pretending, if she woke up, things would become extremely awkward.
As he remained silent, the atmosphere gradually grew ambiguous. Shen Yiqiu also sensed his change, her cheeks flushing slightly, her breathing growing heavier, and her hand moving a bit more boldly.
At this critical moment, a train attendant walked over. Seeing their posture, she politely reminded them, “Hello, the business class seats can be reclined. It’s more comfortable to sleep that way.”
Tang Huaijin smiled awkwardly, nodded, and said, “Thank you for the reminder.”
Hearing this, Shen Yiqiu couldn’t keep pretending to sleep. She sat up from Tang Huaijin’s lap, but instead of reclining the seat, she cast a faint glance at the attendant.
With her no longer blocking him, Tang Huaijin instinctively crossed his legs, trying to adjust himself. Luckily, he was wearing jeans, so although it hurt a bit, at least it wasn’t too obvious.
“Alright, let me know if you need anything.” The attendant didn’t notice her look, smiled politely at the two of them, and walked out of the carriage.
Since she had already made a move just now, Shen Yiqiu became much bolder. As soon as the attendant left, she reached out and took Tang Huaijin’s hand.
Tang Huaijin’s lips were a bit dry. He looked at Shen Yiqiu and said awkwardly, “Shen, Shen-Jie, you…”
A faint blush colored Shen Yiqiu’s cheeks. Meeting his gaze, she parted her lips and said, “I’m cold.”
Her small hand was soft and indeed a little cool. After a long silence, Tang Huaijin didn’t say anything more, letting Shen Yiqiu hold his hand, closing his eyes to feign sleep. As long as she didn’t go too far, he would just endure it.
Seeing that he seemed to have given up resisting, a trace of satisfaction flashed in Shen Yiqiu’s eyes. She leaned her head on his shoulder again and slowly closed her eyes. She really did get motion sickness, and she had indeed fallen asleep at first-she had just woken up later.
