Chapter 12
In the evening, following the motherly checklist, I planned to help Tommy take a bath, but to my surprise, the little rascal was adamantly against it.
With his big eyes blinking earnestly, he declared, “I have a little pee-pee, Mommy doesn’t, and I’m almost five years old now, a big kid who can bathe himself.”
I pinched his chubby little hand and said, “Really? Shampoo stings when it gets in your eyes, you know. Besides, you’re still a four-and-a-half-year-old little kid.”
Tommy hesitated for a moment but eventually decided to accept his mom’s help, albeit with a flushed face, covering his little pee-pee the whole time.
Soon, it was Tommy’s birthday.
He was more excited than ever.
Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate, and by noon, it started pouring rain.
Jonathan’s flight was scheduled for the afternoon, and it was uncertain whether he could make it back on time.
So, I called Tommy, who was staring eagerly out the window, to come and unwrap his presents.
I had prepared five gifts, hoping to make up for the previous neglect of his birthday.
Despite being sensible, Tommy was still a child.
He quickly became immersed in the joy of receiving new toys.
