Chapter 13
When Jonathan walked in, I was laughing heartily with Tommy as we played with his electric toy car.
“Mom, it’s my turn. You said you’d only play for a little while.”
“Be good, let Mom play a bit longer.”
Hearing the door open, both of us instinctively looked towards the entrance.
Outside, the rain was pouring down, and Jonathan emerged from the storm, his suit drenched halfway.
Tommy called out “Dad” excitedly and ran over, but Jonathan’s eyes were fixed on me.
We looked at each other across the room, and my heart started pounding.
Even if I hadn’t traveled through time, it had been almost two years since I’d seen Jonathan.
I must admit, the way he looked with glasses now was like dancing on my fetish.
Handsome man, glasses, wet suit.
Who could resist that!!
I snapped back to reality and stammered a greeting.
Jonathan, however, took off his wet jacket and came forward to give me a hug.
I was stunned; wasn’t this progressing a bit too fast?
He whispered in my ear, “Belle, I’m back.”
Resisting the urge to rub my ear, I immediately hugged him back.
Between a husband and wife, how could this be called taking advantage?
He looked at me quizzically but said nothing.
By the time I lit the birthday candles, Jonathan had changed clothes and come downstairs.
I scratched my face, the birthday song I’d prepared stuck in my throat.
Tommy, perceptive as ever, glanced at me and then at his dad.
Then he loudly wished, “I hope I can sleep with Mom and Dad tonight.”
I pressed my lips together, good son, well done.
But Jonathan glanced at me and said to Tommy, “Wishes won’t come true if you say them out loud.”
His reaction instantly dampened my enthusiasm.
I had forgotten, Tommy might not be his son.
I’m not one to procrastinate, so when Tommy wasn’t around, I said directly, “Jonathan, we need to talk.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, his face darkened.
“I’m tired. Whatever it is, let’s talk tomorrow.”
???
He was all hugs when he first came in, and now he’s giving me the cold shoulder.
When you shower later, I’ll go to your room and unplug your water heater.
