Chapter 3
During dinner, Amelia asked how Thomas and I met.
“A friend’s friend.”
I first met Thomas because a friend organized a desert road trip-two men and two women, one couple, and then there was Thomas and me.
At that time, my friend had the intention of setting us up.
I was aware of it, but lacked interest.
The desert had large temperature differences between day and night. On the first day, I made the mistake of wearing a dress; when the wind blew, I shivered from the cold. The first night, I suffered from acclimatization issues, and the next day, I was so dizzy that I couldn’t join the rest of the trip.
Not wanting to delay their photo-taking, I told them to go ahead without me, and then I lay down.
When I woke up, I saw Thomas beside me.
“Awake?”
“…”
He leaned over, touched my forehead with the back of his hand, “Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable?”
I blinked and shook my head.
When people are sick, they often lack a sense of security.
Thomas’s presence at that time filled that gap perfectly.
The interest I lacked throughout the trip suddenly sparked, and I started to care about him.
After that, there was no chasing involved; things naturally fell into place, and we got together.
Of course, it was him who proposed the relationship.
On my birthday, he invited me to his place for dinner, and after much stumbling, he finally managed to make a tasteless longevity noodle dish late into the night.
He was quite embarrassed, saying it was his first time cooking.
I was honest too, saying I could tell.
He chuckled, then looked at me intently.
Suddenly, he tucked my hair behind my ear and said he would learn to cook, aiming to make a perfect longevity noodle dish for me next year.
The memory ended there, and I smiled, saying, “He’s someone who keeps his promises. Now he’s really good at cooking. We live together, and he usually does the cooking. Occasionally, I cook too, but I don’t have much talent in this area, and even today, he still laughs at my clumsiness.”
Amelia fell into thought, sipping her sparkling wine.
“That’s nice.”
Seeing her look a bit downcast, I asked, “Are you thinking about your first love again?”
“Hmm?” Amelia smirked briefly, “Yeah.”
