Chapter 2
Amelia is my colleague.
She was transferred from the branch half a year ago. Since we are about the same age and have similar interests, we quickly became friends.
“You came here to shop too?” I greeted her with a smile, “Why didn’t you say earlier? I would’ve waited for you.”
“You walk so fast, how could I have had the chance to say anything? I’m just here for a meal.”
Amelia is very beautiful, with fair skin and long hair, and a tear mole under her eye. Her smile is gentle and tender.
“By yourself?”
“Yes. You know me, I often eat and watch movies alone.”
“Well, today you’re not alone.”
I turned to look at Thomas, but noticed his indifferent expression, with a hint of impatience and annoyance between his brows, still troubled by work matters.
“Amelia, you met him at my birthday last time.” I went over and hugged his arm, “You don’t mind her joining us for dinner, do you?”
Getting closer, I realized Thomas’s muscles were tense, and couldn’t help but ask softly, “Is it really difficult?”
Upon hearing this, Thomas’s expression softened a bit. Wrapping his arm around my shoulder, he slightly turned and touched my face, his voice deep, “It’s fine. But I might not be able to join you for dinner.”
I pursed my lips, saying nothing.
He then spoke to me in a coaxing tone, “Your colleague is here, right? It’s good that you have company, so I can be at ease. After dinner, go shopping, I’ll cover the expenses.”
I was quite susceptible to this, knowing well to be considerate.
“Of course you’ll cover it, you wouldn’t want to renege, would you?”
He chuckled, hugged me briefly, his lips unintentionally brushing against my ear, making me blush as I pushed him away, “You better get going.”
After he left, I turned around, realizing I had let Amelia witness the scene.
“Sorry, Thomas has things to attend to and can’t join us. Let’s have an expensive meal and make him pay dearly.”
“No problem.” Amelia still smiled gently, “You two have a great relationship.”
“Of course, we’ve been together for three years.”
“Three years, so you got together right after graduation?”
“Yes, we were supposed to pick out rings today…” Mentioning this made me a bit annoyed, “Forget it, let’s not talk about it.”
Unexpectedly, Amelia stopped.
“Picking out rings?”
I looked at her, puzzled, “Yes, why?”
Her smile stiffened slightly, not as warm as usual, “It’s nothing, I just… I just worried that my coming might have disturbed you.”
I watched her for a moment.
Then laughed, “It’s not your fault, he’s just like that, always busy.”
