My Boyfriend Watches Me Like I'm a Thief - Chapter 4
The next day, I didn’t wake until the sun was high in the sky.
I was clean and fresh.
Someone had me locked in his arms, as though he wanted to merge us into one person.
Fu Ming was looking at me with utter satisfaction.
“Good morning, baby.”
Morning light formed a halo behind him, while his body bore the marks of my teeth and nails.
Holy, and utterly decadent.
My back, legs, and backside hurt, so Fu Ming helped me dress and eat.
Honestly, I had never dreamed my first time with a man would be like this.
So unrestrained. So impossible to resist.
When I’d first accepted Lu Shang’s advances, the love I’d imagined had been courteous and restrained, a relationship of mutual respect.
Now here I was, a grown man, sitting on another man’s lap while he fed me.
He coaxed me between bites. “I got carried away yesterday. My baby even passed out. I promise it won’t happen next time.”
I glared at him. “You still think there’ll be a next time?”
Instead of getting angry, he kissed my cheek.
“All right. No next time. Whatever my baby says.”
I paused.
His attitude was nothing like the one he’d had when we first met.
He told me to spend the day resting at his house.
After lunch, he took me to the private cinema in his villa to watch a film.
Before long, his hands started wandering.
I stopped him in time. “No.”
He was like a big dog, licking and nuzzling me.
“Baby, please?”
Blushing, I hid my face in the crook of his neck and whispered, “There. I’ve… broken something down there.”
He froze. “What do you mean, broken?”
“It won’t close.”
…
He carried me out of the cinema and called the family doctor to come and examine me.
As I listened to the doctor’s instructions, I was so ashamed I couldn’t face anyone.
I’d never suffered such humiliation in my life.
Fu Ming, on the other hand, listened carefully and made a note of everything the doctor said.
Once the doctor had left, he applied the medicine, massaged me, and spent a long time looking after me without the slightest sign of disgust.
Mortified, I tugged at his clothes.
“Don’t you think it’s dirty?”
Once, when Lu Shang was drunk, he’d wanted to cross that line with me. But as soon as he’d spread me open, he couldn’t go through with it.
“Men really are dirtier than women,” he’d said.
When I told Fu Ming, he turned my face toward him.
“What bastard dared say that about you? I’ll shove him into a cesspit.”
I looked up. “Lu Shang.”
“Mm.” He began kissing me.
“Weren’t we talking about something serious?”
He kept kissing me. “This is serious business too.”
I’d never thought someone as reserved and boring as me would end up in this kind of relationship.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
…
By the time I went back to the institute on Monday, I felt much better.
Fu Ming drove me to the entrance and spent a long time kissing me goodbye. Only when I said I was about to be late did he reluctantly let me go.
Before we parted, he asked, “Can I come and pick you up after work?”
I was confused. “I live at the institute. What would you be picking me up for?”
“A date,” he said plainly.
We were together now. I didn’t seem to have any reason to refuse.
“All right.”
When it was time to leave work, I sent him a message.
“I’ve been watching the clock,” he replied. “I’m already downstairs.”
I packed up and left right on time.
My colleagues looked at me as though I were some kind of monster.
“Teacher Qi, you’re not staying late today? Don’t you work until nighttime every day?”
“How could our model worker suddenly stop working? Whatever evil spirit’s possessing Teacher Qi, get out of him!”
I felt a little embarrassed.
Why did they all call me a model worker? Research was my hobby. With nothing to do after work, I could only do more research.
“Someone’s waiting for me,” I explained, then left the institute.
Fu Ming was waiting outside his car. He opened the passenger door himself.
And sure enough, as soon as I was in the passenger seat, there was another long round of…
It was seven by the time we reached the restaurant.
He ordered a whole tableful of my favorite dishes.
We were chatting and laughing when I suddenly heard a familiar voice. Instinctively, I ducked out of sight, covering my face with Fu Ming’s suit jacket.
“Mr. Fu! What a coincidence. What brings you here?”
Lu Shang again.
With his arm around a woman, he came closer.
“Are you on your own, Mr. Fu?”
Fu Ming pulled me onto his lap. “No.”
What was he doing? Was he going to tell Lu Shang about us?
Fortunately, my back was to Lu Shang, so he couldn’t see my face.
I tugged at Fu Ming and whispered, “Don’t.”
Lu Shang was petty and vindictive. If he saw me with Fu Ming, who knew how he might try to get back at him?
It was enough for him to target me alone.
Fu Ming clicked his tongue in displeasure.
“I’m busy keeping my baby company. If you don’t need anything, get lost.”
Lu Shang eyed my back teasingly.
“Oh, so this is the person you’ve been chasing for ages—the one you’ve posted about on WeChat Moments. Won’t you introduce us, brother? Let me see what kind of heavenly beauty you’ve found.”
Fu Ming raised his eyes and said unhurriedly, “I’m afraid you’d be shocked.”
“How could I be? Even if you were dating a man, Mr. Fu, it wouldn’t shock me!”
As he spoke, he started coming around toward me.
I clenched my fists.
Fu Ming suddenly kicked him to the floor.
“Didn’t you hear me tell you to get lost? You’re frightening my baby.”
Humiliated and unwilling to embarrass himself further, Lu Shang said, “Fine. I’m leaving. I won’t interrupt your fun.”
Fu Ming rested a hand against the back of my head, stroking it slowly.
“Baby, when will you finally forget him?
“Looks like I’ll have to work very hard tonight.”
…
Why did I feel as though Fu Ming had done that on purpose?
***
The institute didn’t require overtime, but Fu Ming was working late, so he sent his driver to bring me to his office.
I messaged him to say I was almost there.
I’d thought the office was empty. The moment I stepped inside, however, a hand pulled me over.
Fu Ming pinned me against the wall and kissed me.
“Aren’t you in a meeting?” I asked in confusion.
“It’s finished.”
But hadn’t he said it would take three hours? Only three minutes had passed.
We were having a private date.
His phone rang.
He pretended not to hear it.
I could barely breathe, so I urged him to answer.
“What if it’s urgent?”
He laughed and wrapped his arm around my waist.
“Baby, you want me to answer in this state?
“You’re not planning to do something wicked to me, are you? I’m very vulnerable right now.”
I…
I was simply putting work first.
“Answer it or don’t. Up to you.”
He took the call.
Lu Shang’s voice came through the phone.
“Mr. Fu, what have you been busy with lately? Every time I try to see you, you have no time. Your receptionist and security guards won’t let me in. I can’t even catch a glimpse of you.”
Why was it Lu Shang?
I leaned closer to Fu Ming. “Are you doing this on purpose?”
How many times had this happened now?
I was almost immune to Lu Shang by this point.
I was even beginning to wish he’d find out about us soon, so I wouldn’t have to keep hiding.
No, wait. How had such a dangerous thought entered my head?
Fu Ming whispered against my ear, “If I say yes, will my baby punish me?”
Ever since we’d gotten together, whenever we weren’t eating or sleeping side by side, he was checking up on me.
I had to send him pictures at work and at meals. He questioned me about everything, as though he wanted to squeeze himself into every hour of my day.
Lu Shang was the only other man I’d ever dated, yet Fu Ming paraded him in front of me whenever he got the chance, asking whether I was still thinking about him.
What was this? Had he made Lu Shang part of our bedroom games?
I was annoyed. “Are you ever going to stop?”
Fu Ming wasn’t happy either. “When you stop thinking about him, I’ll stop.”
“When have I ever been thinking about him?”
“Then why won’t you make our relationship public? Why do you keep hiding from him?”
“Given who we are, do you really think going public would be a good idea? How far would your company’s shares drop? Would I still have a job?”
“Qi Wen, is the company more important, or am I? Is your work more important, or am I? Do you even love me?”
“All of it matters.”
The voice on the other end suddenly grew louder.
“Mr. Fu, is someone there with you? Are you arguing with someone?
“Tell me who’s upset you. I’ll go into battle for you!”
Fu Ming gave a cold laugh. “Since you ask, it’s Qi Wen. Researcher Qi.”
I whipped my head around to stare at him. Had he lost his mind?
“Qi Wen?” Lu Shang said. “How dare a mere researcher like him give you attitude? He really doesn’t know his place. He hasn’t even repaid what he owes me! If the institute hadn’t blacklisted me so I can’t get in, and if he weren’t always disappearing, God knows who he’s fooling around with, I’d have found someone to finish him off by now!
“Well, this works out perfectly. Mr. Fu, let’s join forces and teach him a lesson!
“Beep—”
I couldn’t be bothered to listen to any more of his rubbish. I hung up the call myself.
Getting off Fu Ming’s lap, I turned to leave.
“Where are you going?” he asked. “I’ve still got your trousers.”
I smiled. “And I’ve got yours, haven’t I? I can just wear those.”
I pulled on his trousers. But they were so loose that they’d fall down without a belt.
I looked around and spotted the belt, tossed carelessly onto his desk.
Just as I reached for it, he caught me around the waist from behind.
Resting against my shoulder, he said, “Baby, don’t be angry. Can’t I try to change?”
“I’d sooner believe a sow could climb a tree than believe you’ll change.”
How many times had we been through this? If he wasn’t tired of it, I was.
His hands kept roaming, and I slapped one away.
But then the trousers fell down…
…
Forget it. There was no end to the arguments anyway.
We could argue again when we had another chance.
