Chapter 5
Thoughts returned to focus.
I lowered my eyes, not refuting Shi Chuan’s words, “No one would want you except me.”
I simply stood up and calmly said, “I need to go to work.”
Upon arriving at the office, after discussing work with my supervisor Ji Yan, she suddenly called out to me, “Zhaozhao.”
I looked at her, and Ji Yan pointed to her face:
“What’s this? The higher you climb, the harder you work?”
“Haven’t been sleeping well lately?”
I’ve been following Ji Yan for several years.
From an obscure designer to one with a renowned reputation.
Then rising to management, faster than others, but also more challenging.
I smiled, “Because I love this job.”
Ji Yan also smiled, “Your health is most important. You have an interview in a few days, rest well to look good on camera.”
I nodded.
After work, I waited as usual for Shi Chuan to pick me up.
But he didn’t show up for a long time.
I called several times, but no one answered.
Until I called his colleague, who explained:
“This afternoon, a company employee fell ill and fainted in the office.”
“Shi Chuan took her to the hospital.”
I was stunned for a moment, instinctively blurting out, “Who is it?”
“Speaking of which, you should know her. She’s Shi Chuan’s intern, recently hired.”
“…Got it.”
I hung up the phone and prepared to call a cab.
But my finger lingered on the screen, not pressing down for a long time.
Suddenly, a Maybach stopped in front of me.
The passenger window rolled down, revealing a distinguished face.
Jiang You lifted his eyelids, lazily smiling at me:
“What a coincidence, Miss Ming.”
“Won’t you invite a kind soul for a meal?”
My brow twitched.
Looking at him, I finally smiled, “Sure.”
