Chapter 4
My encounter with Shi Chuan was like a theatrical hero saving the damsel in distress.
The “princess” was violated by the teacher, and the “knight” suddenly appeared.
He rescued the battered “princess.”
The police station was brightly lit in the middle of the night.
I sat on a chair in the hallway, not daring to close my eyes.
Shi Chuan sat beside me, silent.
Even though we were under the light, the darkness of the night still pressed heavily upon me.
I was slowly unraveling in the silent night.
But then a piece of clothing, warm with body heat, covered me.
Shi Chuan’s voice was hoarse, tinged with anger.
He said, “Ming Zhao, it’s over.”
“Soon he will be punished.”
“…You’re a very good girl.”
I looked at him through tear-filled eyes.
There was a bloodstain on Shi Chuan’s face.
It was left by the professor when he resisted being pinned to the ground.
“…Does it hurt?”
He paused for a moment.
“No… as long as I could save you, it was all worth it.”
Later, on the night of our wedding, he got drunk.
He repeated those words again.
He said, “The most worthwhile thing I’ve ever done in my life was rushing in to save you when I heard the noise.”
Time is the best way to prove the value of things.
Some things remain fresh and new.
Unfortunately.
The feelings between Shi Chuan and me never belonged to that category.
