Chapter 3
I locked the guest room door and climbed into bed, feeling somewhat exhausted. With the last bit of energy I had, I replied to work-related matters.
Along with messages from that person.
The chat history included a photo.
Shi Chuan was at a bar, holding Wen He, leaning down to kiss her.
Suddenly, a message came through:
-“Are you home?”
-“Did you give them a scare?”
-“I’m home.”
After replying, my eyelids couldn’t hold up any longer, and I closed them.
I woke up from a hazy sleep.
The first thing I felt was the towel on my forehead.
A cup of warm water was placed beside the bed.
Locking the door was useless.
Shi Chuan and I each had a spare key.
I got up to reach for the cup of water, and the slight movement was noticed.
Footsteps sounded outside the door, and Shi Chuan appeared with a bowl of steaming porridge, smiling at me: “Awake?”
“You never take good care of yourself, caught a cold.”
“Just in time, the porridge is ready.”
He sat down beside my bed, scooped up a spoonful of porridge, blew on it, and brought it to my lips.
I lowered my eyes.
The next moment, I reached out and pushed him away.
Shi Chuan couldn’t dodge in time, and the porridge spilled everywhere.
The porcelain bowl shattered into pieces.
“Shi Chuan, we’re getting a divorce…”
“Zhaozhao.” He interrupted me calmly, “My wife is only you.”
I looked up, Shi Chuan’s expression was gentle, but his eyes were like a bottomless lake.
He had a smile on his lips, but his voice was chillingly cold: “Stop throwing a tantrum.”
“This was my fault, but you know, Zhaozhao.”
“No one else would want you besides me.”
He was so certain.
I met Shi Chuan’s gaze.
In the calm lake, I glimpsed the emotions he hid.
Mocking.
Pitying.
Superior.
