Move Forward, Don't Look Back - Chapter 23
The debt collectors were pressing hard, and Shi Chuan had no choice.
After wasting two years, he had to find a job immediately.
Fortunately, he was good-looking, and because of his appearance, a certain club was willing to pay him a high salary.
But serving wealthy people was never easy.
Even though he was a proper waiter, Shi Chuan felt a suffocating shame, like vines wrapping around him, when he put on the uniform.
But he had to live.
He could only endure it.
In the sixth month of work.
Shi Chuan encountered an acquaintance here.
A colleague came out with a frown and said, “Bad luck, ran into another poser who orders only the cheapest stuff.”
“And bossing everyone around, here, take this, help me deliver it inside later.”
Shi Chuan didn’t have time to refuse, and his arms were filled.
The colleague was experienced, and standing out would lead to being sidelined.
Shi Chuan had no choice but to carry the tray inside.
Inside, four people were seated, a fat man in the main seat, a slightly thinner one beside him, each with a beautiful girl leaning against them.
Shi Chuan placed the tray on the table and heard the thinner man speak:
“Hey, you…”
His words were cut off as the door was kicked open from outside.
Someone quickly rushed in and started fighting with him: “Chen Wei, you trash! How dare you find women outside! What did you say when you married me!??”
The man received several slaps, his hair was grabbed, and he retaliated angrily: “You crazy woman! I’m discussing business outside, why are you going crazy again??”
“Discussing business with a mistress? This isn’t the first time, let me tell you, Chen Wei, you’ll never get rid of me in this lifetime, you said you’d treat me well!”
“Treat you well!?”
The man laughed.
He punched her and threw her to the ground:
“You, a cheap woman who had an abortion for someone else, now living off me, let me tell you, behave yourself.”
“Or I’ll kick you out tomorrow.”
The woman on the ground whimpered.
Shi Chuan lowered his head slightly but couldn’t help but peek.
Then, amidst the tangled hair, he saw that familiar face-
Wen He.
She was no longer young, no longer charming.
In just a few short years, she seemed to have aged tenfold.
As if life had worn away all her edges.
Even becoming sharp-tongued and repulsive.
A former lover fallen to such a state.
He had some, though not complete, responsibility for it.
Yet as Shi Chuan looked at her, he felt no ripple in his heart.
He arranged the tray.
Then, with his head slightly bowed, he retreated.
Before the door closed, the woman on the ground was still causing a scene.
Hysterical.
Heartbroken.
