Chapter 7
Under Fu Jun’s protection, no one brought up Xu Wanning’s humiliating divorce anymore.
Everyone was praising her.
“I heard Miss Xu is a renowned painter and artist abroad.”
“Her works are priceless, even royalty from various countries compete to bid for them.”
Xu Wanning was quite pleased, her smile graceful:
“You flatter me. It’s just a little talent for painting, that’s all.”
She was allergic to alcohol and couldn’t drink.
So I drank on her behalf.
That night, I went to the bathroom to throw up several times.
A rash spread across my neck.
When I returned, I happened to overhear a hushed conversation.
“The woman Xu Wanning brought along-isn’t she the Fu Family’s wife? She looks so much like her.”
“Wife? She’s just a servant. Sold herself to be someone’s stand-in for money, utterly shameless.”
“She’ll probably be kicked out of the house soon, won’t she?”
The group burst into laughter, their eyes filled with disdain.
Cold sweat trickled down my back as I leaned against the hallway wall, taking a couple of deep breaths.
I unlocked my phone.
Fu Jun had transferred another million yuan.
“I’ve hung ‘Moonlight in the Wilderness’ at the exhibition. Ah Ning’s in a bad mood-don’t blame her.”
I knew.
Recently, she had been preparing for an exhibition. Someone had offered a high price, hoping she would paint another piece like “Moonlight in the Wilderness.”
But that painting wasn’t Xu Wanning’s work.
It was from a night when I was seventeen, after finishing a phone call with He Zhou.
I stayed up all night and painted it.
Later, in desperate need of money, I sold it for twenty thousand yuan.
After marrying Fu Jun, I found out he was the anonymous buyer.
The wind in the wilderness has a shape, and the moonlight shines equally on every piece of land.
This is something Xu Wanning could never capture.
