Summary
I passed the civil service exam and landed a government job, but I couldn’t bring myself to be happy about it.
Because my placement got adjusted. Instead of getting into the court system, I became a law enforcement officer at Northeast China Tiger National Park.
“What, am I supposed to enforce the law on tigers out here in the middle of nowhere?!”
Grumbling under my breath, I patrolled the mountains at night, trying to psych myself up.
“Hey, tiger! You’re in violation. That’s a 200-yuan fine!”
Up ahead, a branch cracked.
A massive, striped tiger dropped from the sky.
It shook out its fur, opened its bloody maw at me, and said, “Huh? Me? I reckon I ain’t violated nothin’.”
