Kiss with a Misunderstanding - Chapter 20
But when my birthday actually arrived, Chen Sui didn’t mention anything, acting just as usual.
Several friends waited until midnight to send me their birthday wishes, but my boyfriend was up late writing code.
I held onto my frustration all the way until 6 p.m., when Chen Sui finally called and told me to come downstairs.
I silently repeated the word “calm” three times in my mind, wearing a polite fake smile as I appeared before him.
I didn’t know if he’d had his brain dug out, or if he was feeling guilty about something bad he’d done.
My bad mood couldn’t have been more obvious, but he hardly seemed to notice.
He just took me to a slightly upscale restaurant for dinner.
He didn’t say a word.
My mood had already hit rock bottom, and I was completely immersed in my own gloom.
I didn’t even notice when Chen Sui drove us up the mountain.
After we got out of the car, I looked at the empty mountaintop, confused.
Chen Sui went straight to the trunk and pulled out a box.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“Wait a second.” He didn’t even look up.
I didn’t have the energy to ask again.
It was only when he set up the stand that I realized.
“A telescope?”
He nodded, then adjusted the direction, peered through it at a certain angle, and then straightened up with a long sigh of relief.
I was completely puzzled. “Are we here to watch a meteor shower?”
He shook his head, then glanced at his watch.
“The timing is perfect.” He lifted his eyes to look at me, a rare tenderness in his gaze.
“Happy birthday, Xixi.”
