Kiss with a Misunderstanding - Chapter 21
All the grievances I had bottled up throughout the day erupted at this moment. “It’s almost over.”
“You were born at 22:47. Isn’t it just about time now?” He furrowed his brows, as if recalling something.
My sobbing paused. “Huh?”
Only then did I realize he had called my dad to ask for my exact birth time.
“…” I had been upset for no reason all day.
He finally noticed my mood and stepped closer.
“Why aren’t you happy?”
I pouted. “I thought you forgot.”
“Bullshit,” he scoffed.
“Even if I forget my own birthday, I’d never forget yours.”
I looked at him accusingly.
“Didn’t you notice I was in a bad mood all day? I barely spoke.”
He was stumped. “Sorry, I was thinking about something else.”
Oh, so even when he’s with his girlfriend, he’s distracted by other things.
And he ignored his girlfriend because of it.
“…” Still not appeased, thanks.
“So what were you thinking about?” I asked.
“Tonight’s weather.”
“?”
He pulled me over to look at the astronomical telescope.
“What do you see?” he asked.
“Stars.”
“…” He raised his chin expressionlessly. “Look carefully again.”
I looked for a while longer.
Suddenly, I straightened up!
“Q!”
This cluster of stars formed a shape very much like a Q.
He raised his brows proudly and lazily added, “This is your very own Q.”
I was stunned.
Chen Sui said he had bought the naming rights for the six most prominent planets in that star cluster.
He named them with the letters QIAOXI, maybe followed by a long string of numbers.
He’d been worrying about tonight’s weather all day, afraid we wouldn’t be able to see it.
Luckily.
I asked him in a daze, “You can buy that?”
He scratched his brow. “In a sense, yes.”
All the frustration I’d held in instantly vanished.
I threw myself into his arms, hiding the smile that crept onto my lips.
Chen Sui hugged me back, his warm breath brushing my ear.
“So, can I have a chance to propose now? To the twenty-year-old Qiao Xi.”
I kissed his cheek and looked into his eyes.
Reflected there was the starry sky behind me.
And those six planets forming the Q.
My voice blended into the wind, carried to every corner of the valley.
“Yes.”
