Chapter 2
I was taken aback, instinctively thinking I had mistaken the photo.
But I leaned in for a closer look–no mistake.
“What’s wrong with the photo?”
“This is my boyfriend.”
Three years ago, he accidentally crashed into my electric scooter and broke a leg.
After paying the hospital bills and compensation, he was left with nothing but his handsome looks–a penniless young man.
Because of this accident, we met, got to know each other, and fell in love.
He stayed with me in a low-rent apartment, and for three years, we lived a life of squeezing onto buses and subways, scrambling for discounted groceries–my boyfriend.
Lately, he’s been frequently using work as an excuse, leaving early and returning late, distancing himself and neglecting me.
Full of secrets, he chats on WeChat behind my back, suspected of having an affair with a sugar mama.
Julian Montgomery.
“What?!”
The detective looked utterly incredulous.
His gaze towards me suddenly became rather peculiar:
“Miss, are you just looking for trouble, dreaming of marrying into a wealthy family, and pulling my leg here?”
“This is Julian Montgomery!”
“The heir of the Montgomery Family, the most notorious playboy in high society–could he really be your boyfriend?”
“He has a net worth of billions, and there are countless women throwing themselves at him!”
“Does he need to climb the social ladder? Being kept by a sugar mama? What are you thinking?”
After speaking, the detective pushed the unlocked phone back towards me on the table.
His gaze swept over the photo of Julian Montgomery on the screen, growing increasingly displeased:
“Please, go ahead.”
“We dare not investigate this young master.”
“My advice to you is to check your head first.”
