Chapter 1
The tenth day of suspecting my boyfriend of cheating.
I arrived at the detective agency.
I placed my phone on the table, pushing it towards the private detective across from me.
Pressing my lips together, I suppressed the indescribable emotions in my heart:
“Their chat records, this is all there is.”
“The rest must have been regularly deleted.”
The detective picked up the phone, glancing at the chat records I secretly captured last night.
Not much, just one page.
And only from that “Sugar Mama”:
[Still sulking?]
[Transferred you two hundred thousand in pocket money, enough to comfort your wounded little heart?]
[You must see me tomorrow!]
[You heartless little thing, don’t you miss me at all?]
[I must have owed you in a past life to be stuck with you in this one!]
After reading, the detective raised an eyebrow, seemingly unfazed.
He didn’t ask anything else:
“So, Miss Miller, how can I assist you?”
I smiled, lowering my gaze, but couldn’t stop the sourness from welling up in my eyes.
My fingers tightened around the hem of my dress:
“I need you to get solid evidence of their secret meetings.”
“Preferably the kind that would ruin reputations if exposed.”
“He can be shameless, but that sugar mama should care about her reputation.”
“If he wants to climb the social ladder, I respect that.”
“But I’ve supported him frugally for three years, and I need to get that money back.”
Only with the money in hand can I cry my heart out in peace.
“The next picture is his photo.”
The detective gave me a surprised look, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.
He swiped the screen with his finger:
“Let me see how handsome this guy is to charm a sugar mama… Damn!”
The phone clattered onto the table.
The detective’s face turned pale, his body tensed, leaning back in his chair as if avoiding something terrifying.
He stared at me with a look as if he’d seen a ghost:
“Are you out of your mind, girl?”
“Why are you giving me a photo of this young master?”
