Chapter 11
I couldn’t help but freeze for a moment.
For an instant, I almost felt as if Julian Montgomery’s “get out” included me as well.
My brows furrowed slightly as I looked at him in confusion:
“We agreed to settle things cleanly, each going our own way.”
“I took the money, kept my promise, and didn’t bother you again.”
“Young Master Montgomery insisted I answer the phone–are you still dissatisfied with something?”
To the point of tracking me down here?
Julian Montgomery’s expression paused.
His Adam’s apple moved up and down once, his voice cold and hard:
“I need to go back and get something.”
I felt a breath stuck in my throat.
So stuck I had to take several deep breaths: “Don’t you have a key?”
“Lost it.”
What a brazen way to say he lost it.
I closed my eyes for a moment. When my emotions had eased a little, I said helplessly:
“It’s all smashed, really.”
“Young Master Montgomery, why don’t you just name a price and I’ll pay you back?”
Julian Montgomery let out an “oh.”
His thin lips curled slightly as he asked me, his voice faint:
“How much do you have left?”
“Look! I’ll go back and look for it right now.” I replied decisively.
That question was just too frightening.
For a moment, I even thought–
Even ten million might not be enough; I might have to add more on top.
Although I truly didn’t think there was anything worth taking in that pile of junk.
But clearly, Julian Montgomery had no reason to lie.
After all… whether it was me, or that rented room,
They were both stains he wanted to get rid of as soon as possible.
Maybe there really was something valuable in there that I couldn’t recognize.
Otherwise, why would he be so hung up over it?
“Ryan Stone?”
As we brushed past each other on the way out.
Julian Montgomery suddenly stopped in his tracks, turning his head to look at the two male hosts by his side.
Ryan Stone instinctively opened his mouth.
He didn’t make a sound, but it was already enough for Julian Montgomery to recognize him.
His gaze scrutinized, the corners of his thin lips curling into a chilly smile:
“Good looks, indeed.”
“No wonder… he could be picked twice.”
