Chapter 7
After dinner, we were all ready to head home.
But we ran into a tricky situation.
Both Lu Xiao and my bestie had been drinking, so they couldn’t drive. My bestie’s personal driver came to pick her up, but Lu Xiao plopped himself right into the driver’s seat of his luxury car.
I was horrified.
I’d seen news reports about people getting into drunk driving accidents and their dinner companions being held liable.
This could not happen.
I rushed over and grabbed his car door.
“Lu-Lu Xiao, are you heading home?”
“What about it?”
“Let me drive you. I have a license, and I can drive. It’s not safe for you to go alone after drinking.”
“…”
Lu Xiao, who had only gotten into the car to wait for his driver, stared at me.
His eyes held an emotion I couldn’t quite decipher. It looked like a mix of amusement and a sort of helpless indulgence.
“I’ll grant you this one chance.”
“?”
Why did that sound like he was doing me a favor? I was trying to save his life here.
I really didn’t understand how this guy’s mind worked.
After helping him out of the driver’s seat and buckling him into the back, I got behind the wheel.
Lu Xiao was driving a G-Wagen today.
It was my first time driving a car worth a seven-figure sum. Even with my calm personality, I couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitement.
I took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.
From the back seat, Lu Xiao, his eyes half-closed, let out a soft, husky laugh.
“Lin Ting, you seem pretty excited.”
“N-no, I’m not.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Um, Lu Xiao, what’s your address?”
“You don’t know?”
I was confused.
Was I supposed to know?
“I don’t.”
Lu Xiao laughed again, for no apparent reason. “The Senhe Mansions. I’ve posted the location on my feed before.”
Feeling like a total country bumpkin, I scratched my cheek in embarrassment.
I see.
He’d flexed about it on his social media.
Unfortunately, I was too busy to check my feed, so I’d missed my chance to appreciate his pride.
