Chapter 8
I carefully drove Lu Xiao back to his mansion in the absurdly expensive part of town.
The alcohol must have been hitting him harder, because he was a bit unsteady on his feet when he got out of the car.
I had no choice but to help him inside. True to form for a rich person, his door was unlocked with an iris scanner.
Acting as a human crutch, I managed to get him to his bedroom and onto the bed. Lu Xiao seemed to fall asleep almost immediately, his breathing soft and even.
Worried that he might get sick in his sleep and choke, I struggled to place an extra pillow under his head and adjust his sleeping position.
By the time I was done, I was sweating and flushed. Lu Xiao looked lean, but his muscles were dense and heavy. The effort had left me exhausted.
I wiped the sweat from my brow, ready to leave, but then I noticed he was still wearing his shoes.
Oh, well.
In for a penny, in for a pound. It would be a shame to get a six-figure mattress dirty.
So, I took off his shoes and pulled the blanket over him.
There. He should be fine now, right?
Satisfied, I prepared to leave, but when I got to the front door, I was stumped.
You need an iris scan to get out too?!
