Chapter 6
I didn’t reply.
I just assumed the rich young master had sent it to the wrong person by mistake.
But when I met my bestie for dinner after work, there was an unexpected extra person at the table.
Lu Xiao.
He was dressed casually today in a black t-shirt and cargo pants, his sharp bone structure making him look like a model who had just stepped out of a magazine-handsome and effortlessly cool.
The only problem was his foul mood. He looked like someone had seriously ticked him off. When I greeted him, he just responded with a cold grunt.
My bestie whispered to me, “He called me and insisted on having dinner together. You have no idea, even my dad has to be polite to him, so I couldn’t say no. Please just bear with it, sweetie. I’ll treat you to a big meal tomorrow to make it up to you.”
“It’s fine, I don’t mind.”
My bestie relaxed and urged us to eat.
I glanced at the dishes on the table. They were all expensive, but none of them were things I particularly liked. The only dish I wanted, a crispy meat pie, was right in front of Lu Xiao.
With his icy expression, I really didn’t have the courage to reach across the table for it.
Then, an idea struck me.
While Lu Xiao was chatting with my bestie, I casually leaned forward and swapped the positions of two dishes. I moved the meat pie in front of me and placed the pan-fried sole that had been in front of me in front of him.
Lu Xiao, who had been mid-sentence, paused and glanced at me.
His dark eyes were deep, and the straight line of his lips curved into a slight smile.
For some reason, I felt like the storm clouds that had been hanging over him had finally cleared.
Four words seemed to appear on his handsome face:
[I knew it.]
As he took a bite of the fish, my bestie leaned over and whispered to me, puzzled.
“Sweetie, how did you know Lu Xiao loves fish?”
“?”
I blinked, just as puzzled as she was.
“I didn’t. I just really wanted to eat that meat pie.”
My bestie didn’t ask any more questions, and I didn’t give it another thought.
But in any case, Lu Xiao’s mood had clearly improved. He ate well and even had a few drinks with my friend.
I ate my fill too.
Yes.
A wonderful evening.
