Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Fu Jing forced me back to the apartment, made me take a shower, and then held me in his arms as we slept.
In my dreams, Fu Jing and Bai Qiaoqiao stood hand in hand, claiming that the one who isn’t loved is the real interloper.
When I opened my eyes again, it was broad daylight, and Fu Jing was nowhere to be found.
A hangover left my forehead throbbing with a dull ache. Sporting two massive dark circles under my eyes, I headed out to submit the censored version of the script.
People were scattered across the open-air garden.
Not far away, Bai Qiaoqiao’s voice drifted into my ears in snatches.
“Mr. Fu is very good to me. He never forces me to do things I don’t like, and he spends my birthday with me every year.”
A group around her began to hoot and cheer. “Wow, with him backing you, you’re bound to become famous sooner or later.”
Bai Qiaoqiao let out a soft laugh. “Mhm, I know. I’m in his heart. I just have to wait a little longer; he still has a fiancée, after all.”
A few minutes later, I cornered her in a secluded spot in the garden.
After a brief moment of surprise, she flashed a smile. “Sister, what are you doing here?”
I kept my face stern. “Did you know who I was from the very beginning?”
Bai Qiaoqiao’s body stiffened, and her smile gradually faded.
“All that concern and kindness… was that just to lower my guard?”
She remained silent for a long time before finally whispering, “I’m sorry.”
Suppressing my anger, my eyes began to sting. “Name your price. What will it take for you to leave him?”
“I think you’ve misunderstood-”
I cut her off, speaking rapidly. “Two million? Four million? Name it. I can afford whatever you want.”
Bai Qiaoqiao’s expression hardened, and her tone turned stiff. “I want to see Mr. Fu. You don’t know anything about our past. What right do you have to tell me what to do?”
I fell silent for a moment. Having no desire to entertain her further, I suddenly turned to walk away.
Then, I heard a scream from behind me.
With a thud, Bai Qiaoqiao collided with my chest. The zipper of my jacket happened to snag firmly onto her hair.
Before I could even react, she rolled up her sleeves, grabbed my hair, and began to brawl with me.
